Gambel's Quail, one of like 40 lifer's for me in Arizona last week. If you are sort of a newb and not birded much outside of the Twin Cities seven county metro then a trip to Arizona in the spring will be lifer's everywhere!

Noisy little guys. If they are around it seems you will hear them.

I heard my first Yellow-Rumped Warbler this morning. I have not seen it yet because it remains invisible in the trees. This is my first encounter with species of bird. Not my image.

First rose breasted grosbeak of the season on the feeder today

I need help. I have a robin mercilessly attacking my windows, even with attempts to block, add fake predators and window stickers, nothing is helping. anyone got ideas?

Things are really happening. Have oriole, rose breasted grosbeak and Carolina wren now.

I’m at my parents’ in NE Iowa today. They haven’t seen any yet but they are putting out an oriole feeder today. Still about a week ahead of schedule.

- Hundreds of millions of birds will be migrating north this weekend.

The Birdcast NexRad radar forecast shows more than 200-million birds will migrate Saturday with the largest number flying up the Missouri and Mississippi River valleys.

The area from Omaha/Council Bluffs through Iowa to the Quad Cities is the heaviest flight path.

The birds fly at night, starting about three hours after sunset, and stop to sleep and eat the next morning, wherever they are along the route, including back yards.

On Sunday, another 300-million birds will migrate north, with the heaviest flight path stretching from Eastern Nebraska through Iowa and Illinois into Minnesota and Wisconsin.

500 million! It's good they aren't going through Atlanta with all the snowbirds coming back from Florida.

Had a bluebird sighting yesterday in Allamakee County. We're kind of surrounded by water and in 15+ years this was the 1st bluebird I've seen!

They certainly are a colorful pair of Snow Birds.
