Billy Gillispie

I really don't think it ragging on Petey. It's ragging on the fact that we were unable to recruit a scholarship guard capable of beating out a walk-on.

Try again. One poster went so far as to make up stats about him. This was completely ragging on Petey.

Yes.... he was so bad that nobody even bothered to figure out how to spell his name. That.... says it all.

Just as long as they aren't your starting PG and averaging 30 minutes, 1.3 points, 0 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 19 turnovers, and 27 personal fouls.

Just curious, where has this surfaced on ESPN? Not saying it hasn't, just hadn't seen that before.

Their insider sight has a teaser up about us possibly looking at BG to be the next coach. From what I have been told it is just reprint of the the story the OP gave us...

What I meant was that I won't be as emotionally invested if he is the coach. Kind of like you claim to be now.

Don't get me wrong... my emotional investment in ISU Athletics is strong. I grew up on ISU basketball and football but when a coach has done exactly nothing in 4 years and the team just keeps getting worse.... Well that emotional investment gets a bit more challenging to keep up. When a new coach comes in that emotional investment for men's basketball will be right back to where it usually is, very high. I was skeptical when CPR was hired because he seemed to be too similar in pedigree to that loser that now coaches at Auburn. Don't get me wrong... I will be skeptical of whoever replaces GMAC but I will throw my total support behind them until they prove that they aren't worthy. I always support the teams but I can seperate my love of the Cyclones from how I feel about the coach. I don't consider them one in the same. The team will always come first and the coach 2nd. Like many have said on here before.... the program and the fans will be here long after a coach has come and gone.

He doesn't need to try again. He hit the nail on the head. My "ragging" on Petey was simply a way of showing those that think BG would be a terrible hire that they are crazy if they think he can't bring in better guys then that to play at ISU. The fact that we had Petey starting at PG for 2 years is an indicator that GMAC just hasn't ever been able to recruit the talent needed to compete in the BIG XII. How come everyone else seems to be able to figure out the exact point I was hinting at except you?

Oh, I understood what you were trying to do. I just didn't like that you had to demean a proud Cyclone to do so, to the point where you made up stats for him. It's was a low-class ****** thing to do and I called you on it. Just like I will next time you pull that crap.

Well thank god Bryan Peterson has you watching his back for nasty internet jokes! I'm sure he's grateful.

another Petey hater? Why? I just don't get it. The kid was a walkon who played hard and played right. Sure he shouldn't have had to play 30 mins a game, but that's not his fault.

The point is he shouldn't have been playing period. You are telling me that we couldn't recruit anybody better then him to play the PG position at Iowa State? Are you kidding me?

This will never happen. It will rip apart the atheltic dept. The pres that was part of the LE firing will not allow this hire to happen.

No, I never said that. You aren't very good at this reading comprehension thing are you?

Please point to where I said anything of the sort. YOU said he was horrible and made up stats to back up that assertion. That is all I disagreed with about him. You would know that if you could be bothered to actually READ.

its not, espn's pretty much says the same thing as the one from colorado. espn just picks them up. the only people that think this has legs are crazy.

And I imagine you have some type of compelling reason why this thing is crazy? Is it the fact that Jamie Pollard has come out in support of Mac saying he will be here next year? Or is it that our record indicates significant progress? Or perhaps, its the fact that it is too crazy to imagine that a group of disgruntled boosters has helped pony up some money for his buyout?

Waiting for some substance to your claim...

Good lord, are you his dad or something? What's the nice way of saying "I think BG could recruit circles around GMac because he started a walk-on PG who had no business seeing the floor"? There isn't one, get over it.

No, I'm not his dad. He's just a former cyclone walk-on who I think doesn't deserve to be drug through the mud by stupid ******* internet posters.

And that seems like a perfectly fine way of saying it.

If you want it to be over, stop posting about it.

Just a friendly warning to be nice, folks. Keep things civil.

Thanks.

Anywho, back to Gillispie...why is it more crazy to think he'll change his alcoholic ways than to think GMac will change his losing ways? Discuss.

If Billy G. had started his rehab 4 years ago and was still an alcholic, like McD start coaching here and still can't field a winning team, I'd be concerned about his alcoholism.
