Yeah honestly I could see Tanke, Wilson, Paulk, and possibly Alisa Williams all hitting the portal....I think they all could be good but maybe not at this level. Tanke I'm not sure is a D1 player if I'm being quite honest.
Bill will coach for one more season and then walk away, when this current group of juniors are finished. You have to remember that those players came here to play for him, if he retires or is forced out, how many of them will be willing to stick around for their senior year with him gone?
ISU has to play the hand they have been dealt, give Bill his final send of season, and reboot the program after the juniors leave, it will be a reboot anyway.

When the time comes, Can't afford Brenda might be worth giving coach Abe a look. She's been meh at Georgia but SEC is a meat grinder.
Might be willing to come to Big 12 which isn't nearly as tough. From Iowa and knows the program but would any former assistant want to follow Bill?
I will say that Jada Williams was a big hit as a transfer portal signing. She had marked improvement in several categories (other than turnovers unfortunately) but she finished 3 assists shy of Emily Ryan's single season assists record.
What this roster lacks is some size and athleticism to compete with the elite teams. Syracuse starting lineup was all 6ft or taller while or 3 guards were 5' 8 or 9.

Tanke does not look like a D1 player and would benefit playing at a smaller school. AWilly has had plenty of opportunities between LSU and ISU. The talent is there and she rebounds well but the missed bunny shots are frustrating.
Honestly, I think we are screwed. Other than Jada, Bill hasn’t shown that he can get high impact transfers from the portal. Jada knew we had a huge need at PG and she had a relationship with Addy. I think Wilson, Tanke, Jensen, and Taulelei should all look for opportunities elsewhere for their benefit. The issue is who would want to transfer to Iowa State with our returning staters, lack of success and a lame duck coach.

Unless everyone improves immensely, the playbook is out there to beat us. We would be insane to think without some changes that we will improve next year.
A starting Stretch 4 with one year of eligibility left, most likely from the mid major ranks.
I think beside Audi Addy and Jada if we could get an elite guard or wing player in the portal AJ or Hare could thrive as the 6th.
And then work your ass off on the other end while she gets abused...
Do the right thing CBF. Retire now and the cupboard is not bare. Perhaps some players will stay. Otherwise you are thinking of you and that's not the Iowa State way. Did I get that right?
It guess I have assumed all season that bill was playing beatty over wilson because he thinks she has a higher upside and doesnt want to lose her. It seems pretty obvious to me they are very similar players but wilson can shoot better. Wilson has definitely deserved more minutes than she has gotten this year.

Jenna Twedt, UNI leading scorer. From Benton HS. Took 7 threes a game. Give her Hannah Belanger role. We are desperate for more confident shooters
Elise Jaeger, UNI leading rebounder with 10 boards a game. Will shoot 3s if left open. From Valley. Promise her AB/Crooks replacement off bench at a minimum with chance to start at 4.
Potential con - both play good defense so wouldn’t mesh with our scheme

I haven't kept up with this thread but Bill should step away. Amazing career and legacy but this season was the writing on the wall. Audi, Addy and Jada should be elite 8 no question.

I dunno, Iowa football somehow gets good WR recruits and portal QBs, even though their passing game sucks donkey balls.
Said it a million times - we have very few B12 caliber athletes.
When they underachieved last year, I told myself I wouldn’t get my hopes up for this year. Then they landed J Williams and I thought we might’ve had the pieces to do something special.
I’m not going to be fooled again. Our coaching stinks. I don’t care what hype we get next year or what ranking we’ve got after being 15-0 to start again. This team has a cap with this staff, period.
