Big 12 Regular Season Title or Elite 8?

If you could only have one, which would you choose?

In that scenario, I think we would still be officially Big 12 champs, as Co-Big 12 Champ, correct?

I think the tiebreaker is just for Big 12 Tournament seeding, no? Although I'm sure Houston would try to claim they are the real champs and lord it over us, I'm pretty sure we'd still officially be recognized as Champs as well.

I could be wrong.
If same record, but a head to head loss in the only matchup with Houston, we are co-champs. In fact, one of Kansas's titles during their run, they had gotten swept by K-State in the home and home, both ended with same record, and still named co-champs

This is it for me.

Without looking it up can anyone name last years 8 Elite 8 teams and the year before?

Elite 8 teams who lose don’t get remembered.
To be honest now that I'm older I don't even remember who was in the final 4. The games all blend together and I've cut my paying attention down to ISU and the B12. I followed this way harder when I was younger now I'm just along for the ride watching the Cyclones and not caring too much about the rest.

This is an important factor for a lot of us IMO.

Good take.

I guess the next logical thing to look at the team who did both: The Fizer team

I know for me, personally, that team is so formative for me because I'm 35 going on 36 and it was peak coming of age as a Cyclone Basketball fan.

But more than that, there's so much baggage associated that elite 8 game and how it ended.

Despite all that, it doesn't diminish how I view that team. They are STILL the gold standard to me.

In large part because we have those memories of hoisting that glass bowl trophy. I know that if we do that again, come what may in the tournament, we will associate that same excellence with this team forever with a Big 12 Title. It's just so rare, unless you are Kansas.

And that edges out making an elite 8 for me, which could end the same way as that Fizer team. A heartbreaking loss in a dumb too early matchup in a hostile location on a blown call.

Who is winning the conference title if we don’t win it? That might sway my decision because **** kansas
Well I think most people would say Houston.

But you can't count out Kansas for sure.

Possibly Arizona with how they have started conference play.

EDIT: Tang and KState run the table and come back to beat us all... LOL!

You aren't wrong. Even in the last half dozen years we have had co-champs twice with K-State and Tech sharing it in 2019 and Baylor and Kansas sharing it in 2022.

Both teams get a trophy so they are co-champs.

In 2000 the Twister Sisters shared the title with Tech and OU. It was a three way tie and there were 3 trophies.

Elite 8 means I got to watch this team a couple more weeks after what's looking like a really nice season.

If it’s a guarantee loss in elite 8 give me a conference championship. If it’s open ended, I’ll take my chances with this team against any in the EE, FF or NC
Agreed. Knowing the outcome makes a big difference.

Guaranteed loss in the Elite 8? Give me a conference championship
Unknown result in Elite 8? Give me the Elite 8.

I might even go a step further and say that suffering a beatdown in a Final 4 might make me lean towards a Conference Championship.... I dunno, probably not, but I'd definitely have to think about it.

That's probably more of a discussion about watching sports if you know the outcome sucks, I guess
