Duh!
When ISU draws 12k in a game like CSU did in 2019, we can talk. I was at a game in 02 or 03 and they were #16 in the country. They announced like 28k but there wasn’t even that. It’s a terrible environment. CSU isn’t ever going to grow into a P5 program in terms of interest.
Thank you. How in the hell are people still seriously in favor of CSU? Let’s add MAC teams then.

Until KU improves at FB, why do so many want to hitch ourselves to them on pods/protected games? is the goal to guarantee one terrible network/time slot game each year and drive down our viewership numbers, when they are more important than ever?

Because we have been in a conference with KU since 1907 and they are the closest school in the conference to us. It’s like 3.5 hours from Des Moines to Lawrence.

If there is any reason they need to expand at all...I really don't see how they can in a crisis.

If they get raided teams are no longer going to leave B12.

Best case for them might be new B12 is strong, they get raided or have active defectors, and the entire block that doesn't leave joins Big 12 entirely.

Worst case is they lose 2 teams to Big Ten or SEC, then New Big 12 only adds 2-4 instead of all.

Maybe I'm wrong and those 12 will be immune from it all. Something tells me if their check is 20% of what SEC teams get they won't be stable.

The PAC12 wants to ally with the B1G but doing much more than a game or two is really problematic, they can't really merge due to geography. It would be much easier to merge with the Big12 if it comes to that. And I don't see the B1G or SEC poaching 1-2 PAC teams, it's just too geographically awkward, imho.

Buuuuut, thinking out loud - you know how 16 team conferences are really just two 8 team conferences, but with a couple crossover games and a champ game? What if the B1G and PAC became "one" conference that was really FOUR conferences, with some crossover games and maybe a 4 team CCG??

There's always some guy who says there should be 8 ten-team conferences, geographically and rivalry sensible, because it's nice and neat and makes Santa happy. Well the B1G and PAC could go that route. Maybe the SEC/ACC would follow. You'd have 2 MEGA conferences of 32, you could have a 4 team CCG each, and then the champs of each face off for the title. You get your super leagues, but under the auspices of the existing conferences. The Big Pacific Conference, and the Atlantic Southeastern Conference. Someone remind me to patent those two names in the morning...

Hope we stay at 12 for now. If the PAC were to get raided we could add some solid brands to ensure we remain a power conference.

For that reason, I was surprised the Big12 decided to add the 4 so quickly. As CU, Utah and Az schools would all be great adds to Big12.

My guess is they were added because OU/UT will be gone with 2-3 years left on current deal and TV partners want proof of ratings before renewal.

Also it is possible CFB will be so chaotic with 2030 TV rights that Big12 views adding the 4 as living together instead of buying a ring .

If the BiG were to raid Oregon, Washington, USC and Stanford. I think our ideal targets to expand our footprint would be UCLA, California, Arizona and Colorado.

One of the sneaky things that I'm excited for in this realignment is seeing Matt Campbell and Luke Fickell meet and square off. They are eerily similar, and everything I've read about them is basically interchangeable. Ohio guy, built a national power at an unlikely location, loyal, has kids in high school, would only leave for Ohio State, an Ohio NFL team, or maybe Notre Dame, every P5 opening calls him, etc...

It's a six of one half dozen thing for me, but ASU seems to have more negative pub. Is ASU the better choice? Guess my point is if we add 4 from the PAC I'd want them to be from 4 separate regions.
Fair. I don't have a strong feeling either way but after passively noting the two while living here I would take ASU if the goal was one team in AZ. I think they have a good chance at some success in FB and BB (AZ sucks at FB) and the school is huge, **** tons of grads coming out all the time and they have been good at getting good pub for the academics (I think its sales more than reality, but they are trying). I think folks around here would like to keep them together though I have no idea if the state folks would fight.
