I think she was also surprised it was a performance(she was wiping tears), although, didn't she know that is what is was going in? I mean she was planning his speech that way before they switched to reading the letter.

I think she likes Jimmy because he cares about people, and she is frustrated with him that he hasn't been honest with himself about caring for Chuck, yet, she was in on his performance at the grave site, and the library, so what gives? I think I am starting to go along with Angie in not liking Kim.

Jimmy went off script. Kim's plan was for him to read the letter, but he aborted and took it his own route which fooled everyone even Kim. Jimmy had even her believing he was sincere so when he reveled it was an act she is shocked.

Not exactly sure.

She cares for Jimmy, that is obvious. She likes Jimmy because she thinks he cares about people. When you fully look at it, Jimmy only cares for Jimmy. She realized that Jimmy is fully out for himself and is a cold and relatively heartless person when it comes to others. It almost appears that at the end, people will end up disliking Jimmy when BCS is all over. They are trending that direction. The disdain that you feel for others, actually is a cause of Jimmy. They have made Jimmy be this likable f' up.

When he reads the letter, she believes that Jimmy has this caring, loving heart. He kinda rips her heart out when he laughs in her face and basically insults her when he laughs at those who were about crying.

Kim really pulls off the shocked look so well with Jimmy.

I think she expects Jimmy to be someone he's not. Jimmy cares about some people - most notably, the underdog, the disadvantaged. That's why he started working for the elderly - yes, he took their money, but he also genuinely cared about them. She doesn't see that he has contempt for the "haves" of the world, and she expects him to be in touch with his feelings in a way that he's just not. I think Jimmy truly grieves Chuck, but isn't going to let even himself acknowledge it. You can tell the way he's acting out that something is up with him.

I think Kim kept hoping that Jimmy was good through and through, and use his skills for everyone... but she doesn't see that a lot of it is driven by his contempt and desire to trick the elite.

I think this is very accurate. Saul is hilarious in BB, but he's not a good guy. You love his personality, but he is all about his own survival, with a small seam of good. That's more and more who Jimmy is becoming - it's lovable when he's a bit character, but you hope for more from a main character. It's why Walt is sort of an antihero in BB, he's not really a good guy at the end (even though he redeems himself some in the last episode).

Exactly.

While yes Jimmy cares mainly about himself he has a soft spot for people being blackballed like the girl trying to get the scholarship. She like Jimmy made a mistake and is being defined by it (proven by how the one lady described her) and he hates to see her treated that way by people who think they are better than her (pretty much how Jimmy has been treated his entire career by Chuck).

The whole scholarship seen took me back to career fairs at ISU and how I was treated by large accounting firms, so I get how Jimmy feels.

I don’t feel jimmy has a soft spot for those, I think he feels he is giving advice to himself. Like the scholly girl, I see him talking to himself deep down instead of talking to her. That’s why I think he decided to do the D/B/A as Saul at that point. Jimmy gets back at people (now, maybe not in the past as much) and uses others as surrogates for those he wants to get even with.

Yep, I agree - I think he sees himself in those people, and is trying to get back at the elite by helping them get ahead. "Winner takes all," etc. - it's all about being above the elite. He sort of wants anarchy, an overthrowing of his brother's type of people by his type of people. I think it's largely rooted in self-interest, but I do think he truly cares about the elderly, and people like Huell who are getting boned by history and what he thinks are unfair railroading.

One question I never felt got fully answered. Did jimmy steal from his dads till?

We know that he stole something. In the scene where his dad gives money to the scam artist, the guy tells Jimmy some stuff about how you can be the victim or the winner, etc. Young Jimmy takes a bit of money from the till at that time. I think it's to lead you to believe he took the $14k, but it's not ever admitted by Jimmy.

I was initially tricked by the karaoke scene with Chuck and Jimmy. I thought when Jimmy sang, "the winner takes it all..." and got Chuck to join in with, "the loser standing small...", that Jimmy was indirectly poking fun at Chuck. But then they actually had a nice bonding moment.

Jimmy is complicated, which is why the show is great. I think he truly wants to be a good person, but he does not have the fortitude to put in hard work. We all see that he actually has the potential to be a good lawyer, but he is also street smart and knows how easy it is to cut corners. He cannot help but choose the easy, selfish path.
