CyFanatic has been helpful on issues related to personal finance before, so i'll try again..

What bank do you use for a checking account?

I currently bank with Wells Fargo, switched from our local credit union a couple of years ago because it had made travel difficult. However, I'm getting quite annoyed with Wells from ATM fees, no APY and poor customer service.

I'm thinking of switching to Ally or Charles Schwab, no monthly fees and repays ATM fees at the end of the month. Do any of you have experience with them? Thanks in advance!
Credit Unions are the only way to go. Once a member, always a member. They have all of the services, rarely have fees and excellent customer service. I still use my Credit Unions from other places and just handle everything by mail, direct deposit, online or call. No issues at all. Even the ATM is no fee at a US Bank ATM, and I can always find one of those close to me. Did you quit your Credit Union over not being able to use brick and mortar services? If that is your only reason, I'd suggest joining another Credit Union where you are eligible close to your home. Good luck!

Cedar Rapids
Collins CCU. We get interest on it but I don't pay that much attention to it.

I’ve used Schwab for years - great service. I also got them to wave trading fees on Vanguard mutual funds, so moved my investment accounts over as well. (Fees still apply to ETFs)

Not exactly sure.
I use Bank of America for checking and savings. They've been decent over the years and one is right by my house for convenience if I need it. I've maybe been inside it three times in 15 years.

Like every other CFer, the bulk of my massive fortune is split between my Swiss bank account and the Caymans.

Mine is split between the nickels and dimes laying on my dresser.
