I was there for Home Team’s final semester. I remember XLs being $3 if you did carry out. At least twice I bought one walking home from a party and ate the whole thing myself at my dorm computer watching Seinfeld on Landex at like 3AM
I remember ordering a huge pizza at a buddy's dorm for $5.00 back in 2003. We didn't have anything for a tip so we just gave the guy a Coke.

Summers were great. Turn of the century timeframe for me, and People's in the summer was great. Never went there during the school year, but it was awesome in the summer. They had some good Long Island deal nights.

Cy's was also more my typical speed, more laid back.
Tea night! I remember crushing a bunch of Ames Teas. If I remember right, they were blue. Ames in the summer was totally different. And awesome.

A couple of other places late 80s. A British place maybe called the underground. Also a deli on west side of campus.

Summers really were great. Always running into the same people, the bars were a lot quieter and you could hang out with people without having to yell and lean into ears.

Were the bar Olympics at Cy's during the summer or am not remembering that correctly?

London Underground in downtown Ames? I remember going there once for cheap gin & tonics. Spring 2013 I believe.
edit: per their website they've only been around since 2006.

I think this is a mostly complete list of what's been in the building that's currently occupied by Outlaws. Might have missed something here and there. Businesses had a tendency to change over breaks, hence the overlap in years.

If time allows, I may dig into some other addresses.

No he’s thinking what Lumpy’s was prior which was UnderWhere. Or he’s in the totally wrong decade.
Exactly what I was going to comment, is he talking about Underwhere? That place seemed like a cool idea, bar in the basement, but it really smelled bad most of the time. The band played in had a show there one summer, low ceilings, sound wasn't the greatest. Better than sitting at home though.

THank you!

Now I remember that correctly. It was only Dean's List for one year I was there, then rebranded to Big Shots, and right as I left Reign.

Ames in the summer was 100% the best.
Time slowed down.
Those beers on the Mickeys patio were better.
Disc golf.
Maybe head to DSM for a nooner ICubs game.
Dollar movie theater matinee.
Ease of shopping at stores.
This brought some intense nostalgia. I disc golfed at Carroll Marty daily in the summer. I honestly don't remember how I had any money to live because I wasn't working. Plasma maybe? It's weird how easy it is to make it work when you get used to being poor.

I didn't have any money but I don't remember not having any money. It's odd because I felt like we were always doing something. I did work but I wasn't making much.

I was basically there for the entire Dean's List era. My mug is still floating around the house somewhere.

"There are a lot of people that go to college 7 years"

"Yes, they're called Doctors"
