Guys we have yellow jackets somewhere in our attic (unused space). I've seen them coming through the porch fascia. It used to be one 1 every 30 seconds like 3 weeks ago?. Now it's 2 to 3 every 10 seconds going in. I called a pest control. Dh is like we don't need that. And is going in to look. I'm about to be a widow.

They seem really bad this year, we just had windows put in, the installers were battling a horde coming out of our attic. They basically nuked them in order to get the job done but it was the most I've ever seen. We always have them but this year is the worst for some reason. We've had really good luck in the past with the hanging sticky traps but they wont go near them this year, maybe they're evolving lol.

Soapy water in a shop vac by their entrance. Google it.

Put soapy water in the shop vac & suck insects into vac/water. Leave the vac on by the entrance, when they come or go, they’re sucked into the soapy water & perish.

ah, got it now. It's like....8-9 ft up, we'd have to figure out how to safely ladder. honestly i'm concerned we have a LOT a lot so I'm ok letting pros deal with it.

I just found out it’s a cicada killer moving truckloads of dirt from under our steps. I assumed it was a squinny or something but I just saw this 3 inch bastard pulling all the dirt out. This is after sweeping up the dirt a few days ago.

I believe they are actually super harmless unless you try and trap one in your hands or something stupid. But my god, they do look like they are straight from hell.

I ended up finding it dead on the trunk of my car after camping out with some wasp spray. I would have left it if it wasn’t pulling the dirt from the steps. It was wild how much dirt it was moving pulling it backwards with its legs.

They do that to build a long, kind of 90-degree tunnel for their young.
Having said that, two weeks ago I "wasp/hornet" sprayed the heck out of an opening between our front sidewalk and front step because I'd seen one hovering around there. Didn't see them there after that, but one sure was interested in the new loose top soil I spread around the outside of a raised bed in front. She probably realized it just looked like what she wanted, and there was no easy way to dig in the dry hard soil below it.

So wasps have made a nest in a bird feeder near my front door; I can't tell if they're yellow jackets or paper wasps. Knowing they're pollinators, I would prefer avoid killing them. Any suggestions, or do I just need to take them out?

Yellow Jackets are pollinators but they are not endangered like honey bees are so I would pray and spray baby. Time to sack up.
