I have a neighbor two doors down that has a doggie door that allows their dog to enter their fenced back yard. The couple went through a divorce and the wife got the house. Since that happened, she lets the dog have access to the doggie door in the middle of the night. This means that the dog almost nightly for over a year is in the back yard barking non stop from 2am to 4am. I know other neighbors have complained and she promised to close the doggie door at night. That only lasted a couple of weeks. Recently, I have noticed a change. When the dog started barking, a horn would sound almost immediately. I'm assuming another neighbor must have gotten a noise device. The horn seems to stop the barking almost immediately. Now the dog doesn't come out at night or it is not barking at night.

Figure out a way to emulate lightning, that's about the only thing ours don't like. Otherwise Pyrenees will bark, it may seem like its at air sometimes, but its mostly because they sense something. Wonderful dogs but they are loud, we can hear ours inside from several hundred yards.
They are great dogs. We’ve had friends that own them and we have a Pyrenees/Lab mix. Talk to the owner. It’s not a dog problem it’s an owner problem. Ours will go out and bark at the neighbors sheep but if it goes on longer than five minutes I go get her. Talk to your neighbors
I grew up with Great Pyrenees. We were able to teach them not to bark on command ... but once in awhile their bark meant something.
Guarantee the owner is using the same excuse as people in this thread.

My parents used to have these two little yipper dogs next door that would do nothing but bark at the air. Owners were absolutely oblivious to it, and it got to the point where my parents and other neighbors couldn't enjoy their own back yard. Eventually one of the neighbors called the cops, as nuisance barking dogs fall under the same city code as leash laws, but they really didn't do anything because the dogs weren't outside when the officer arrived. One of the owners was talking to my mom after that, and the lady was so oblivious about it saying "I can't believe someone would just call the cops on such cute little dogs".
Thankfully that family moved, but sold to a family that all drive work vehicles and overcrowd their driveway and the street with them.

There is very little I appreciate more than not having any dogs that live in the three closest houses to us and very few in the general area.
I shot a werewolf once, but by the time I had caught up to it, it turned back into my neighbor's dog.

That's annoying. I have two little yipper females (and one mellow dude) and I haven't trained them completely out of it, but I listen for them yapping and bring them back in when they start up. Most of the time now, I'll open the door and they'll stop and find something else to do, so it can be controlled for sure.
Neighbors dog, aka "Barky Dog", barks at everything that moves when it is outside. It's 150' from my house to it's kennel and it's loud and annoying as ****. Good news is he doesn't bark endlessly, just at anyone walking by or anything that moves up the street and if it's too loud they usually bring it inside. They don't appear to be hard of hearing like a lot of dog owners.

I'm absolutely looking forward to the day my neighbors' dog dies or they move. Barks at everything when it's in the house and when it's in the back yard. Well-behaved on a leash when they walk it though.
In my experience, they'll have a new dog within weeks. That dog will also not be taught to stifle its barking.
This makes sense to me/seems reasonable. I guess I’m not sure I understand the problem with a dog barking in a rural setting a few times a day. I’m not a big dog person, but it just seems like a thing to get over. There’s a big dog I always see on my runs…and I know it’s going to bark loud when I go by. It’s personally slightly annoying, but I’m in no danger and I know someone loves that dog. I’d feel terrible calling in authorities and having someone lose something they loved because I was annoyed by a sound a few times a day.
I would drink a 12 pack of Busch Light and pee on the dog to establish dominance.
I had two yappers next door as well, top day of my life when they escaped the fence never to be seen again. Owners got two new dogs but they are inside execpt for potty breaks and rarely bark. Elite upgrade.
