How did Henry win the Heisman over Mccaffrey?

SEC bias much?
McCaffrey is AWESOME, and he would have been a worthy, worthy, worthy Heisman Winner. He broke a Barry Sanders single season record, which speaks for itself.

However, to answer you question, Henry won it not due to SEC Bias but because he broke or tied not one, not two but THREE SEC single season records held by former Heisman Trophy Winners, and he played sparingly in Alabama's 3 OOC cupcake games (40 carries for 216 yards vs. MTSU, ULM and CSU combined). 'Bama didn't need him much last night (either) besides being a decoy (which some players - Zeke!) wouldn't like very much. Derrick Henry is an ultimate TEAM player.

The three records:

He broke Herschel Walker's SEC single season Rushing record and became the first SEC running back to rush for 2,000 + yards last night. Remember he hardly played in 3 games, or he would have easily been around 2,500 yards.

He Tied Both Herschel Walker AND Bo Jackson for most 200 yard games in a single season (4) by an SEC back, and he did it against 4 good SEC teams including two bitter rivals (LSU and @ Auburn) when 'Bama was still trying to win the SEC West.

He Tied the single season rushing TD SEC record (23) held by Tim Tebow and a couple of others. Last night, he added 2 more to take control of that record. BTW, I thought his 2nd TD last night was a great example of how great he truly is by the way he stiff armed Shalique Calhoun (one of my favorite defensive players I have ever seen play live) to the ground like flicking a fly away.

So, even though he barely played in 3 games in which he could have padded his stats, he broke or tied 3 SEC rushing records held by Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson and / or Tim Tebow. He did it mostly against the 10 P5 Teams he played (Wisconsin + 9 SEC teams - which ALL Bowled and are currently 4-1 in Bowl season).

That's why he won the Heisman over another very deserving candidate (McCaffrey)- who would have been a worthy winner in his own right. Not a bad All-American backfield with those two!

Either way...Let's Go State! On to the Final Four ISU Hoopsters! Let's Go Stanford! Crush the Hawkeyes Hearts in the Rose Bowl today!

Happy New Year!

It's one game. Sec can suck my slightly larger left nut.

And I don't think there is anybody that hates msu more than me.

That should have been Iowa getting smacked down in that game. But alas, I'll be cool with the rose bowl.

Your right it is one game, but it is one of the three (2 playoffs and NC game) that count the most.
