Past couple years we've had snow for about 2 weeks each year. I'm outside with the kids playing soccer, basketball, baseball, trampoline, pool, other water activities daily. Can't do any of that in the cold. You can walk your dog in any weather.

This is Iowa winter, it's almost always windy. I don't like being outside under 25 but can handle it, under 10 and I don't leave the house unless I absolutely have to. Basically take kids to/from school and basketball practice. Groceries or any other errands wait until the temp is back up.
I don’t break out the winter coat until single digits. When it’s negative I don’t like it. That’s about it
You can do any of those activities when it’s cold too. My kids’ still play soccer when the snow flurries are flying. They don’t complain. You just choose not to do these things when it’s cold. I choose not to do outside activities when it’s oppressively hot. It’s all a matter of preference.
And my dog has long enough fur that she also prefers rolling in snow than dealing with the heat.
Completely against the logic of when those sports have their seasons but yes it is your preference, I would bet most pro athletes disagree.
As someone who lived in Grand Forks, ND for 5 years I find this funny. In comparison it is almost never windy in Iowa and in the coldest year I was up there, the high temp never got above zero in a month stretch from mid Jan to Feb. Twenty degrees was like heaven. If you have never been to the eastern side of North Dakota it is dead flat (the whole area was a former lakebed) and as we said there's a good-looking girl behind every tree. Absolutely nothing to stop the wind.
Youth soccer season is from mid-August to the end of October and from the end of March to the beginning of June. You better expect to play in the cold and the heat.
Coached all 3 kids both seasons since they started at 3 so I'm aware. Have trouble fielding a team when it's too cold, parents stay home. Had to have my 6yo play with the 8yo a couple games when it was only my son and my buddy I coach with son and we have 8 kids on each team. Miserable experience other than that being the only 2 times they've played together being 2 years apart in different age groups. Even the kids do show up, some won't go in.
October is warm, it's first half of April that sucks.
It isn’t even that bad outside right now. Sure it’s hot, but it’s summer. It is not ridiculously and unsafely hot outside. Just mildly uncomfortable.
We’ve conditioned ourselves to think it’s too hot. I kept hearing the last week how we were getting a high ridge high pressure system and we are looking at a big heatwave. Well that system is bringing temps around 90 which is a whole 3 degrees above our average of 87 this time of year.
Also, people just don’t go outside anymore. Usually people complain about the weather even when it’s been nice. Temp wise this spring and summer seems like it’s been right at normal or slightly below.
