Auto insurance deductible and limits

I am with Nationwide and have been for nearly 25 years. 3 claims in last 5 years, Derecho, Deer hit, and a parking lot incident. (BTW, Parking lot incidents suck ass, it was clearly the other parties fault, a teenage girl blew through a stop sign, yet police will never assign fault and the insurance companies just dig their heels in and each party pays.) Renewal just came up on my Umbrella and it jumped big time. Overall for home, lake house, 3 cars, boat and umbrella...approximatel 30% overall increase this year. Also my deductible on Windstorm or Hail just went from a flat $1K to 1% of the home value.
Unfortunately in the process of claim #4 for our lake house at Okoboji as the sewar backed up just last weekend due to all of the flooding up in NW Iowa and I am in the process of replacing the furnace, hot water heater, washer, dryer, and dehumidifier. :puke:
Sorry about #4, that sucks!

Does anyone have West Bend here in Iowa?

They are cheaper (home and auto bundle) than other quotes I am currently seeing... Is that too good to be true?

We did for a while. No complaints. Anecdotally, they seem to be a little more diligent with underwriting and the risks they are willing to take on.

It’s not too good to be true, honestly it’s a case by case scenario right now I’m seeing. One client I had yesterday was the best bundle for AAA. The next client was best for Universal with Progressive auto.

Just got our rate increase notice. 1,800/yr to 9,000/yr. Newell you are on notice buddy

With umbrella policy, three vehicles and deductibles of $250 on each; we pay almost $4,000 a year. We do have a driver under 25 too. This is with State Farm.

Selective is trying to get out of Iowa without actually getting out of Iowa. I'm pulling former Selective customers like crazy right now.
Travelers is no picnic for even getting the right fit. 10 year roofs or less plus as of 8/24 $5000 min deductible. Just had a new client that came over from Farm Bureau too with a 45% increase. There is no escape

yep, farm bureau rates ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Farm Bureau has been great to me for close to 20 years, but my rates for auto and property/liability just jumped 50-60% which equates to a ~$3500 jump for next year. My wife had 1 claim that probably doesn't help, but for someone who has never filed a claim before, that's jarring to me.

Will be shopping for new rates.

Anyone dealt with Amica before? I've seen good reviews and they send me mail.

Any other tricks? Does going thru AAA or other associations help?

Avoid AAA at all costs. Ancient infrastructure in their back end and their claims service is constantly 'reorganizing' and is a disaster. Got so bad I voluntarily gave up my appointment with them which tells you all you need to know in this market.

Amica doesn't save much per the quote. A few hundred dollars which isn't enough for me to switch. So maybe Farm Bureau not raising rates for years is just them catching up now?

AAA is also incredibly high right now but who isn’t I guess. Age of your roof right now is a big factor. Progressive isn’t the most popular by many but they just had a nice premium reduction on 8/16 as well but that’s only auto since they aren’t doing many homes
