Audi Crooks to Transfer

This is the biggest sign yet of how broken college athletics have become.

To spent $5M + on the HOPE of winning a NC in WBB, a sport that almost no one cares about is insanity.

It won’t make that money back for the U in enrollment or PR, it sure AF won’t make a fraction of it back to the donors of the NIL…

I don’t care how they spend their money, except it’ll unfortunately drag more money in & out pressure on other AD’s to follow suit.

*And you can say that people care…BUT the only measure of caring is the money. WNBA has never made a dime, WBB has never made a dime, same is true for wrestling or gymnastics. The last thing ISU and others can afford is to blow NIL money on these sports…and that’s gonna be the new demand.
This is the equivalent of dropping $1000 into a slot machine hoping for a $25,000 payout.

If someone wanted to offer me 1.4 million to be a hawk fan and get all of the tattoos hawks on my belly guy has… I’d do it in a heartbeat.
I always say…

It doesn’t shock me that people will sell their souls…what shocks me is how little it takes.

That there…that number would have to be a 3 comma number.

The NIL Go clearinghouse is not standing up. Programs have already found a way around it. Iowa State just isn’t willing to. Not saying I disagree with that philosophy but it’s a fact.
Not really. There is an ongoing arbitration case between the Clearinghouse and a group of 18 Nebraska FB players. If the Clearinghouse wins this case and other related cases, the Clearinghouse mechanism and intent will mostly stand up as planned. If they lose the case, not good for college sports.

Are you certain?

I can’t say I feel any shame as an Alumni for our folks not to throw away hard earned millions of our wealth on 18-22 year olds who play a sport. Especially sports no one cares enough about to cover their prior scholarship and expenses (pre NIL).

Attendance will be about the same as it has always been for the last 10 years +/- 1000ish.
There are well beyond 1000 in the lower bowl. Each section holds (ballpark) 700 people. All four sections on each side of the court are pretty much full. So, I’d guess 4k on average easily when you add in the ends and balcony.

That's just called capitalism. It's the business world that the rest of us live in every day.
At least in theory, colleges are supposed to be about education.
Spectator sports depend on some amount of competitive balance to maintain fan interest.
Professional sports leagues have rules like drafts and salary caps to maintain competition.
Even in the business world, there are laws against simply trying to run all the competition out of business.

This isn’t about the cheapest route to a national championship. It’s beating his buddy who is buying players for TCU. 100%. Meanwhile Verizon CEO expects unemployment 20-30% in a couple years, so let us eat cake.

No ****. Let's see what's more valuable, over a million dollars now, or... maybe another Fareway commercial after graduating?

Like, WTF are we even talking about here. Nonsense.
There was an argument to be had when the number was expected to be more like 400K. Assuming the 1.4 is accurate, there's no economic argument to be made.

I doubt you know the intricacies of her diet.
I know that she has been vocal about her body which tells me she isn't willing to do the hard things to get there. Doesn't matter what her reason is. Niang faced it and came out better on the other side and now he's an NBA staple. I'm hoping she can get there too. Anyone who has any idea about nutrition will tell you she is eating too many calories. Business doesn't care about social justice. (Royce White)

She is in control of her own life so it's none of my business but IF she wants to play professionally, she'll need to do everything possible to become as athletic as possible. That's true of anyone who wants to be a professional athlete. Even racecar drivers have fitness coaches.

Continues the trend someone brought up a while ago. Former players leaving for teams with female head coaches.
Audi -> Hoyt at OSU
Jada -> Mulkey at LSU

How is this style of play different than the “Get the ball to Ashley” style we ran for 5 years prior?

I completely agree with you here, btw. This is about the time when I lost interest in ISU WBB. I got into it when Chelsea Poppens played because I went to HS with her. I enjoyed it because I really felt like the women's game involved a lot off-ball and free-flowing movement.

I guess then Bill decided to completely change his strategy and revolve his entire offense around 1 player and it has been hard to watch since then. But at least Ashley played a semblance of defense.

I don't contribute much, if anything, to Iowa State's collective. Because of that, I will never complain about roster construction. I think you lose the ability to do that when you're not donating. I'm an alumnus. I cheer for whoever wears the uniform. I'd cheer for Iowa State if they hired Osama Bin Laden to coach the team football or basketball team.

Sorry not clear. I meant that the attendance will be the same as now (5-7K) +/- about 1000 people.
