Audi Crooks to Transfer

season salary for best men's college bball players? $4-7m
season salary for best NBA players? $50-$60m

season salary for best women's college bball player? $1.4m
season salary for best WNBA player? $1.4m

what a world.

Good for Audi - get paid as much as you can while you can!!

Well, the NBA makes money and the WNBA doesn't and the NBA has to subsidize it.

I have only read a part of this thread but it is genuinely hilarious that so many posters can unequivocally divine the reasons behind each player leaving and all of those assessments are quite different from each other.

You can make assumptions but you don't know. You know what happens when you assume...

So in other words, it's a college sports discussion message board?

If she had stayed here for less money she would have had ISU related endorsements for the rest of her life,

I disagree. She has this year to make money from endorsements. She has very little brand value around here when not in a Cyclone uniform.

Iowa State itself will be encouraging local sponsors to shift to current players.

What is being reported for Oklahoma State WBB Top Players:

Heard - $2 Mil
McGill - $1.3 Mil
Crooks - $1.4 Mil

So those three are reportedly getting $4.7 Mil (plus whatever the rest of the team gets) - supposedly last year's UCLA team that won the title had a payroll of $5 Mil so that is in the ballpark for a top team.

Side note - I do think AC preference would have been to leave the Big 12 but her options were becoming limited so she decided to take the offer from OSU.

PS - You do not need to respond and say this is untrue - it is what the insiders are reporting.
UCLA players may have got paid that amount for 2025-26 in a pre-House environment.

For 2026-27, those numbers (if true and I doubt they are) for Heard, McGill and Crooks are what they are being promised. Whether they actually get paid those amounts over and above RevShare via the Clearinghouse approval process remains to be seen. If they actually do get those full amounts, it will most likely be under the table from OKSt WBB booster(s).

Ugh, love how well she represented ISU while here but once gone, I'm 100% ISU first. Hate that we have to player her but if its in Hilton, I hope she at least for one night regrets leaving.
I will always cheer for school over player but I hope I don’t start tearing down any players for leaving if they think it’s the best move for themselves

The fact that she committed to a team they will play in Hilton is….well, something. That won’t be pretty regardless of the outcome, and she chose it. Seems pretty myopic and/or naive on her part, but oh well. Hope the 1.4m contract is worth it, Audi.
My guess is this is a considerably larger $ number than what was on offer elsewhere and that overrode having to play one pretty uncomfortable game.

Well, the NBA makes money and the WNBA doesn't and the NBA has to subsidize it.

while that's true, it's also true that the WNBA isn't allowed to shop their own tv deal which artificially keeps income low. Their tv revenue is basically whatever the NBA tells them it is.

You could argue pretty credibly that since the NBA covered the losses for so many years that they're entitled to to recoup some of those losses

The NIL Go clearinghouse is not standing up. Programs have already found a way around it. Iowa State just isn’t willing to. Not saying I disagree with that philosophy but it’s a fact.

It’s actually better for the athletes than professional sports. Can you imagine the bidding war and free for all if the pros were unrestricted free agents every season
That's just called capitalism. It's the business world that the rest of us live in every day.

That was before $1.4 mil came out. If it was a few $100k its a discussion now not so much
