Audi Crooks to Transfer

The fact that your center had the fourth best number of assists should say something. Her assist to turnover ration this year was .68:1. Turnovers for a post have to be graded in a much different way than a point guard. Tanke lost playing time because she was slow and thinking she deserved playing time for making undefended threes is a new one. As has been documented here…Crooks’ teammates took 75% of the team’s shots. Them not getting opportunities to shoot wasn’t an issue.
she touched the ball more than anyone, i would hope she was top 5 in assists.

Any one player taking 26% of your shots, will always be a problem, and is a recipe for a horrible team culture and resentment from their teammates - especially when their off-the-court antics are being overlooked

They were probably hot and cold because one game they were able to get up 3 shots and the next only 1. if they didnt have a ballhog on their team, they could've had the chance to be more consistent.

its 100% Bill's fault. His "force the ball to Audi every time down" gameplan was a horrible one and he never made adjustments.
One again we were the top team in the Big 12 for PPG and 12th in the nation for PPG. Audi getting the ball was the right move most of the time. By those metrics it was a great game plan.

We simply could not stop anyone from scoring. We were 285th in blocks per game, 172nd in FG % defense, 257th in scoring defense, 320th in Steals per game, and 261st in Turnovers forced per game.

The fact is our offensive game plan was boring but worked great, but we could never catch up if we got behind because the opponent would almost always get an effective shot every possession.

Audi made 2 shots out of every 3 shots she took. JFC.

What off the court antics are you talking about?

People are grossly overestimating what the ladies are getting paid.
It’s 2026. They’re getting paid and getting paid well. Not everyone but if you’re a starter in the P4, you’re making 6 figures. Some Big 10/SEC subs are making 200k+. Several will be millionaires this year including Audi.

The national champ had a player take over 23%. That 2.5% less than Audi took must make a huge difference.

This team had much bigger issues than the number of shots Audi took. Audi made almost 65% of her shots and over 70% of he free throws. Audi shot less than 50% in 3 games ALL season. And in those 3 games, if she made 1 more shot, she would have hit over 50%.

Could Audi have better better on D sure. But so could Addy or Sydney.

In the end, this team was a top 10-20 team in December and not close to that in March. Somehow things went off the rails, and I doubt Audi was the cause.

Because Bill and staff have proven the either can't coach a defense or don't value it enough to try. Audi was a big problem on defense, but most of her teammates weren't that great defenders either.

Beyond Audi making driving up the lane way easier, many times we were running 4 guards at 5'-9" or below which made it really hard to challenge 3pt shots and pressure passes. It looks like the roster construction was bad for defense.

All that said, I primarily place the defensive woes on Bill and staff.

Wow….interesting take…completely unfounded…but interesting.

I’ll take another Aus/Ezell/Weiben/Bolte/Nisleit/Stuckey team. Before the star player show started - honestly looking back probably began with Bolte’s senior year
Yep this was the start of Bill's roster retention issues.

Perhaps it’s what her agent asked for from ISU… or maybe it’s just fodder.

I'm not talking about the top end players, I'm talking about in general fans are over estimating what these girls are making. There's always going to be the outliers but the average isn't 6 figures.

I would hope she made AT LEAST 65% of her shots, when 90% of her shots were layups. FWIW, Blake Buchanan made almost 65% of his shots, and Dom Pleta was at 70%. Bigs should have a higher FG% than everyone else.

It's not a hard concept to follow... she was receiving star treatment, and her teammates got sick of that as the season progressed. She's a partier. Bill let things slide because of who she is. Female athletes get drug tested too. Put two and two together.

Good grief. Get some mental help.

Please elaborate on why you THNK she is a partier? i would suggest you have FACTS before running your mouth on what you THINK is the truth. or are you just trying to start something to bring her down because you are upset for practically the whole team leaving?

If you look at the stats…Crooks took right at 25% of the teams shots this year. That clearly shows the guards were getting lots of opportunities. She put up 493 shots out of 1974 taken. The guards getting shots wasn’t an issue. Making them in conference play (most of the time)was.

The guards also took a lot of late in the shot clock attempts... not all shots are created equally.

Consistency/efficiency is critical, especially among the starting 5. Audi was the only player on the roster who met that need

Jada was a solid assist PG. But she was wildly erratic as a shooter and turnovers. Even Addy was an erratic shooter.

But something happened between December and March with this team. Coaching, chemistry, roster build...

I mean part of it was the schedule. We played nobody in the non con outside of Iowa.

Some people here are underestimating our offensive prowess last year. Per Warren Nolan, we were 7th in effective FG percentage and 9th in points per 100 possessions -- and that's with Brown out for a few games. Those are better rankings than the men's team on those metrics! Offense wasn't our issue. Defense was: 185th in points per 100 possessions.
