Audi Crooks to Transfer

True. I feel like we did get to see them fit together nicely, at least in the noncon. They were moving the ball around and the big 3 all had their nights where each had a big game.

I’m not sure what happened, but conference season hit and that stopped happening and the defensive problems came home to roost at the same time.
Teams were also figuring out how to play defensive against us and have success. Once one team had success, others copied. That stretch where they wouldn't guard Jada, EP, and Beaty on the perimeter was brutal. We had no answer for it.

Yeah…the fact that we had three guards that couldn’t shoot was a death sentence. Definitely brutal.

I was impressed with Baylor's coaching in their game against us. They switched up at half and pretty much destroyed our season from there.

It boils down to the girls on the team hated the star treatment Audi was getting and how selfish she was. The girl likes to party, and Bill gave her the longest leash possible and told himself she's the key to any success ISU was going to have. IMO, it's on Bill for not reigning her in and having control of the culture within their walls

There's little doubt that defense was part of the issue but. I don't agree that we ran the correct offense. We could have run tons more plays for people not named Audi Crooks. It would have helped us be tougher to gameplan for, given our 3 point shooters more confidence and helped everyone play better defense as well.
I'm going to reply to myself here to clarify that I'm not saying that Audi didn't deserve her points. She could have gotten 20-25 points a game and we still have run more plays for our shooters to foster more team involvement.

The issue is we have a coach who won't do that!!

Most of the time I watched ISU play their shooters were getting a lot of open looks and it was brick after brick. After brick. After brick.

We haven't had a multi-threat offense in almost a decade.

We will have a multi-player offense. No sure we will have enough talent to make it a "multi-threat' offense. I am not very optimistic we are going to be able to convince "talent" to come here right now given the situation.

Still can's figure out why Beaty played so much. I can understand as a backup PG, but not paired with Jada.
My guess (based on nothing) is that she is one that would have stayed had Audi been the one to announce first. Her style did not fit at all with Audi, she just wasn't a 3-point shooter. I have to think given the amount of time she was given to play the staff expected her back.

Man imagine a team having the #1, #3, and #4 transfer on one team! They would a force to be reckoned with.
They were a force before Brown was injured and she was a shadow of herself when she came back. This team had parts, but they just did hot mesh together after that injury. Jada picks up some of the slack, but they really needed Williams to make a huge step forward and she really just did not do that. They struggled hitting 3 pointers all year constantly, one game they would have 10 the next it would be 4.

Who exactly were our “shooters?” I mean, shots that go in?
Audi had no support offensively.

Jackson, Hare and Harris were all at or around 40% 3pt shooters. Alli Tanke won the 3point contest like 3 months before coming to ISU but never saw the court. If Audi ever passed the ball to open teammates (a career almost 1:2 Assist to turnover ratio), more of her teammates would have had a chance to shoot.

Hare, AJ Harris and Brown were all under used and vivable offensive threats
- You mean the Kenzie Hare who went 0-7 against a below average Syracuse team, and 0-6 from 3?
- You mean the Addy Brown who went 2-11 against Syracuse, and 0-4 from 3?
- You mean the Sydney Harris who had a 38% FG percentage this year, and was 0-2 against Syracuse?

Hare couldn't create her own shot. She was a spot up shooter that was average at best.

Harris has games where she looked like was a great scoring threat, and others where she couldn't hit a damn thing.

Brown was a major part of the offense until she got hurt. Never looked right after. Brown played a lot like Jefferson before getting hurt. She was the only one who could feed the post. Was alright at 3s although her percentage has gone down each year. Probably due to higher volume.

AJ became a threat once Brown was hurt in all reality after she got back from injury.

They were all viable threats but under used is a stretch.
