Audi Crooks to Transfer

Crickets from Bill and Jamie. The program has imploded and nobody is saying anything. Why??

Quite frankly there isn’t anything to say. I can’t fathom anything they could do that would help anything.

At this point, the choice is either keep him for another half decade, or cut ties now. Letting him coach one or two more seasons cannot be an option. Doing that turns a one year rebuild into a three, and sets the program back for years to come.

That said, the case for another 5 years of Fennelly seems really weak right now. Our team has underperformed the past two seasons, and this roster churn is evidence of serious problems simmering beneath our view from the outside looking in.

And this is not the first time he has had significant roster churn.

Best case scenario is that this forces Fennelly to build a new offense and everyone can buy in.

Idk if I'll ever see a more polarizing on the court player in my life than Audi Crooks.

Audi was so dominant and amazing to watch on offense. Like a female Marcus Fizer who was just too much for opponent's defenses to handle...

...but then the utterly insane lack of any effort whatsoever on defense. Literally standing straight up with her hands down at her sides in the lane while watching a much shorter player make a completely uncontested layup in her face.

Not off the court but she definitely was on. You can’t win with a post that refuses to guard anyone and can’t rebound anything that doesn’t fall in her lap.

For her sake I hope she lands with someone that will coach her hard and she turns into the beast she should have been all along.
Yeah that’s a coaching issue, not an Audi issue.

Pollard continuing to blame NIL and transfer portal while not acknowledging he has/had two coaches in key sports TJ and MC that handled transfer portal due to program culture.

Can blame the system if you'd like, but at some point you can see who is blaming the system and who is managing it.

It’s a total rebuild right now. What difference does one more year make?

WOW, comparing her to Fizer is brutally offensive to Marcus. Audi's skill set was to be larger than all the other players, catch the ball right at the basket and bounce it off the glass for two points or get fouled and maybe make a free throw. I struggle to type the world "skill" next to her name. Her size was the only thing that makes her special and everything else about her game was sub-par. She was brutally overrated and I'm much more bothered about losing truly "skilled" players like Addy and Jada, sigh.

Pollard just put out a video about the mens and womens team and he doubled down on his support of Bill in that video. Jamie continues to show time and time again he doesn't care about women's sports at ISU. Sprout a sack and fill it with some balls, Jamie.

I would counter that since Women's sports lose money it's quite obvious the general public doesn't care about them. Spending extra AD money on them in the current environment would be wasting resources.

Going to suck watching a total rebuild for this season and then another next year when Bill's contract expires and we hopefully move on. Jamie is going to see what Cyclone Nation truly thinks when there's half as many people in Hilton this coming season.

Sucks for AJ because she deserves better, but a telling story of the current status of ISU WBB!.

I never said she had Marcus' skill set. Just that she could dominate a game offensively like he did.

I remember a Fizer quote along the lines of "it's not my fault I'm bigger and stronger." So yes, I agree Audi relied on her size/strength she had over smaller opponents, not her ball skills or moves. She still dominated and put up crazy offensive stats at times.

Fizer gave much better effort and had much better skills. Especially he gave better effort on defense, not even a question there. But they both towered over opponents in stature.

Bring in Molly Miller to replace Bill. I'd watch more ISU women's BB than I do now
She is from Missouri and spent her entire life in midwest until 2020. Maybe she wants to come back to the region (maybe not).

Fennelly has one more year on his contract right? What is another year going to do? Unless fennelly has some buy out, which I doubt.
I'm assuming he's hoping to hand off the program and on his son? Which....yeah, not sure if that will solve our issues. Just start over.

Just real sad we lost a local player who would have been one of those Niang type former players and a fan favorite in Ames for the rest of her life. Would be tough choice, cash over whatever that is worth to a person.

I think this is really the core of it. Pollard can see the issues with the program same as the rest of us, but the return on investment just isn't there to spend the cash to force Bill out and bring in a new staff. That money is better spent elsewhere.

Does anyone think for a second that if we had a men's bball coach in this exact same scenario that Pollard wouldn't make a change? In my mind, there is no doubt he would.
