Audi Crooks to Transfer

Well she’s not part of my school anymore

Sorry for the crude poster's "name" (lol), but I found this on the South Carolina message board. Makes a lot of sense if anyone has that anymore...
Unless it's a toxic situation, I hope Crooks stays. Her identity is tied to Iowa State and since she probably doesn't have much of a pro career ahead of her, she really needs to work on cementing her college legacy. One year elsewhere, no matter how good of a season, will disrupt all of that.
I don’t think many college players in any sport grasp this.

Beloved 4 year college star at State U will have many career options. Want to be a junior VP of Just Show Up? We can do that!

Three year star who transfers for SR year loses that, while becoming only a mercenary to the new fan base.

I want people who want to be at isu, by entering the portal she didn’t want to be at Iowa state.

Give me Ariana Jackson’s.
I get that, but rev share & NIL have made being at a school or playing for a coach they like only part of decision.

Like it or not money matters. For elite players, the money available from ISU vs. another school could be hundreds of thousands. That's life changing money for a person in their early 20's.

I wish we could go back to a more traditional student-athlete model. But the pragmatist in me, says college athletes are now working professionals.

100 percent this.

With NIL, gone are the days of a player committing to a program because they're excited to wear the jersey and be part of that school's history. It's all about how much money now.

Arianna Jackson is rare. She was a Cyclone before she could even dribble a ball. And I don't think she could even think about wearing a different uniform. But players like her are going to be the exception, not the rule.

At the end of the day, whether *any* of the rumors/claims etc around this exodus are true or not (culture, giving up non CBF, dwindling NIL/rev share opportunities), Audi wants to experience March Madness.

With Iowa State completely rebuilding a roster from scratch -- likely with younger/mid-major transfers -- it became clear that she not likely to experience that if she stays at ISU next season. She has never hosted the first two rounds. Her freshman year ISU made the 2nd round, last year they made it past the play in game, this year they lost in their first game. That's the wrong direction to go.

I don't believe she wanted to transfer. Even if all of those other issues are true, I think that the lack of March Madness is why she ultimately left. She even mentioned that interview. Everyone's ultimate goal is to make a Final Four. Why do you think Iowa had basically zero transfers out during CC22's time at Iowa? Kids were happy to go along for the ride even if they were riding pine. A Sweet 16 appearance is something most kids don't want to be a far off fantasy either.

Unless CBF can get some very electric and experienced guards from the portal, it's just not going to happen at ISU next season, even if she returns. Audi doesn't want to be part of a young, inexperienced team that doesn't make the tourney in her senior season. That would be such a depressing legacy....

There’s plenty of people out there who want to play and just aren’t in it for $$

So what's the story she's having trouble finding a team?
From what I've read from the "experts" it forces many teams to change their offense for a year if they are going to revolve around Audi. So, the question becomes what coach is going to take the chance and change their offense for a year and potentially anger other players on their team who suddenly who are getting fewer touches and scoring fewer points.

Lot of truth to this statement

But she might be back :)
LOL, That would be quite the presser. Audi "After testing the waters, I decided to finish my career at ISU."
Bill "we welcome our 2 time all American back for her Sr season and looking forward to her leadership on the court."
It certainly would be an interesting situation and a huge turnaround. My only concern with it is Jamie will use the re-recruitment as an excuse to extend Bill as an reward and just delay the inevitable. Given how cheap Bill is relative to a new coach, I think Jamie is looking for any excuse to keep those cost savings rolling
