Audi Crooks to Transfer

It fair to say it wasn’t an exciting offense, but it would have been a bad idea to do anything else. We were the top team in the Big 12 in scoring and 12th in the nation in PPG. Hard to argue we should have done anything else.

Defense was the reason we underperformed.
There's little doubt that defense was part of the issue but. I don't agree that we ran the correct offense. We could have run tons more plays for people not named Audi Crooks. It would have helped us be tougher to gameplan for, given our 3 point shooters more confidence and helped everyone play better defense as well.

I just am not sure what could have been done. They all want more money, probably won’t make the WNBA or if they do won’t make a lot anyway. They gotta take the money now. And for women’s basketball at Iowa State, at least for now, you aren’t paying 3 players close to 2m. ISU shouldn’t pay that, and if the girls can make a lot more elsewhere, they should take it.

IMO just a bad mix of playing styles between the big 3. They’re all very good bball players but just never really figured out how to compliment each other on the floor. Easy to see why they didn’t enjoy playing together.
Our million dollar coaching staff should have been able to figure out something to make that work. Along with a defense that didn't look like a matador in the bull ring.

Basically the same for me too- past We Will Donor, dropped back my donation to the Cyclone Club, grad and season ticket holder. Minus a mass text for Forever True day, I’ve heard nothing- I don’t even hear anything from the department I graduated from or CALS. At this point I’m not so sure if it’s odd or just the foundation/AD don’t want to try.
You don't receive the CALS news letter? Have you ever been in the alumni association? I'm a lifetime AA member so I've always received CALS stuff along with the alumni magazine.

The Athletic listed the top players in the women's transfer portal, 3 of the top 5 were from ISU, Audi was #1, and the other two were ranked 3 and 4.
Well if their rankings are accurate it would seem we've underachieved the last couple of seasons.

I just don't understand why the coaches wouldn't take Audi out of the game when she was just standing around on defense and not going after rebounds. I don't care how good of an offensive player you are what kind of coaching staff just allows that to occur.
You do realize she was the fourth leading rebounder in the conference?

I get that stats are stats BUT I attended games (I realize you did too) and the number of rebounds don't accurately reflect the effort. Sometimes if you are standing under the basket, the ball will just fall into your hands. The original post said "going after rebounds" which rarely happened so let's not keep referring to stats to defend effort...

Also have to check how many were mebounds

Yes she is 6'3 and was very good at cleaning up the boards on the offensive end. I am talking about when she would just be standing around flat footed on the defensive end and then was very slow to react and go get rebounds after opponents missed shots. I don't know if it was fatigue but there were times there seemed to be very little effort in going and getting the ball on the defensive end.

I get the CALS news letter and the association’s newsletter (lifetime member as well). What I’m referring to is from the ISU Foundation specifically- I typically donate to the We Will Fund, MBB Support Fund, Animal Science Department and Meats Team- those are the entities tied to the foundation I don’t ever hear anything from

Sometimes the parts don’t make a better whole
True. I feel like we did get to see them fit together nicely, at least in the noncon. They were moving the ball around and the big 3 all had their nights where each had a big game.

I’m not sure what happened, but conference season hit and that stopped happening and the defensive problems came home to roost at the same time.

Agree 100%. They looked like a very dangerous team in the non-conference. Injuries hit and of course threw the team for a loop. Was a weird cycle.
