Attending my first Cy Hawk game in Iowa City. What do i need to know/ be aware of?

People here are such pu$$ies..it’s like any other away game….night game can get rough but 230 it’s fine
Same as Any other away game? I’ve been to several in the big 12 and I’ve always had fairly good interactions and never had others want to fight me in the stadium because I didn’t wave long enough.

I’m sure you’ll have fun.

My mom won’t go back there.

We had a guy try to fight us because some hok fan threw a full beer at us and it hit him instead. And this was just us walking down a sidewalk with ISU shirts on. Been there twice and my now wife once and incidents all three times. I’m glad ISU fans go there to support our team, but you won’t catch me there again.

Had my name pulled out of a hat, got 2 tickets to the first game when they started playing again. Sat in the south end zone. We lost. I do remember there were unopened hard liquor bottles all over he place after the game was over. Parking was a mess.
Go Cyclones

Come in force.

I'd recommend at least two bridges with full close air and artillery support.

I went in 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016. As an adult, you’ll probably just get told **** state, **** you, you suck, etc. otherwise it’s not that bad. I probably won’t ever go back, but only cause I feel like I’ve been there enough. It sucks going and getting completely beaten down on the field like 2010 and 2016.

Everybody else will give their own experience with gameday stuff so let me give you some other experiences. The traffic. It's a NIGHTMARE getting out of there.
Don't even consider Melrose.
Don't go to Airliner, it's over rated. Go to Shorts for a good burger.
Go to Joensy's for a tenderloin and support Ashley's family

It's not acceptable to be cursed at, and receive insults based on wearing the colors of ISU. Fans like that are disgusting and should not be allowed to attend the game or be anywhere close to the stadium. Most of all, they ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I went once around '06 or '07 as a college kid. I survived. ******** abound, but if you're not an instigator you'll be fine.

Things you need:

A helmet for when you get full beer cans thrown at you.

A raincoat for when you get cups of piss thrown at you.

Ear plugs for drowning out the hok squawks.

A tissue to wipe the tears away when they do their special wave publicity stunt.

A shovel for dealing with all the BS.

A hok fans yard, since they have terrible parking and call peoples front yards their so called tailgate spots.

Biggest prick fanbase in college football,
Husker fans say, "Hold my beer".

I've been there and really only had one semi-bad experience. Overall as long as you are cordial or keep to yourself there is a good chance you will have a good experience.

I know a lot of Hawkeye fans say the same about attending ISU games, although I've never seen anything out of the ordinary I can't say our fan base doesn't have a few bad actors as well. Just luck of the draw if you get stuck next to the drunk(s) who think they are funny and want to get a reaction out of you because they think they are safe with thousands of other Hawkeye fans in the area.

Just hope we cone out on top and then bring the umbrella to keep the beer cans from hitting you!

We would have an easy place to park but I would never go to a game there. They are bad enough at Jack Trice. Our friends who live not too far from the stadium have nightmare stories about what Hawk fans have done to and on their property.

Want to borrow my Fu&% Iowa shirt? They loved it when I wore it in kinnick back in 98. It's a cheap 100% cotton shirt I bought on Welch Ave, but worth every penny!

My wife and I were just gifted tickets for Saturday by her uncle who is a season ticket holder for hawk football.

It was a super awesome gesture, but I find myself having a bit of trepidation about what I may experience in Iowa City while wearing cardinal and gold and cheering on the clones deep in enemy territory. Is anyone else in this boat, or have made the trek to Iowa City for this game and lived to tell the tale?
Try and have fun. But you won’t ever want to go back
