Would be interesting to see a breakdown in revenue. TV revenue is not the only reason why Iowa takes in more than 50% (or $49 million). I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I want to say the TV delta would account for about $10 million.

The schools that are the blue bloods aka Ohio St ..Michigan...Texas..Oklahoma..make tons of money with full or near full football stadiums and a extremely rich Donor Class .....hellsbells it was only a few years ago that the Texas Horns had two brothers give them 200 Million dollars to spend on anything athletic...

The Horns then tore down the stands in the north end zone and rebuilt it, Now that my fellow clone fans is the richest of football schools talking.....

Reminds me of the time when Texas lost qb recruit Jack Mildren to Oklahoma...Mildren's father then got FIRED by his employer (who was a big texas donor) because the best high school qb spured the U of Texas....this is real life boys and girls.....

About 8 to 10 schools jumped us with student and school contributions. Would be nice to get to that 100MM level, so we need about 10 in donations and we would be in very good shape.

I think he is hoping to build the fan base. If we can hit that magical season with a conference championship, then the thoughts probably are we spike up in donations and we can hold most of them. Our fan base died off hard from about Duncan through Mac. JP has been trying to build it.

We aren’t ever going to have an ultra-wealthy donor class like a lot of those schools do. We are a very blue-collar, middle-class fan base and that isn’t going to change. I love Iowa State for that and would never want it to change, but you can see how it hurts us in this financial area of things.

JP knows that sustained success on the field has to come first, before asking for that kind of commitment from ISU's donors. He's actually done a pretty good job IMO of balancing that side of the equation, which is probably why ISU athletics attendance continues to grow while it crumbles virtually everywhere else.

Advertising and sponsorships is one place where ISU football lags compared to other major conference schools.

Years ago, like early B12 days, Texas A&M started a low level donor program - Century Club. Their goal was to get most of their non donor, alumni base to donate just $100. The response and result was had a large impact. Lots of CC members with stickers on their cars. Number of donors went up and donations followed. Look at them today.

imagine if the majority of ISU’s alumni donated just $100 a year? I am always surprised to learn of fans here and else where that donate.

So I've been toying with the idea of buying season tickets to donate to big brother big sister to rotate through pairs. I can't go given where I live now, but I can help fill seats and maybe grow the fanbase. What would that cost me to do?
