I have a very reliable source on this, and everyone should know that our S&C program is a massive upgrade to our previous staff and one of the primary reasons our program got up off the mat after 2022. Our staff and culture were in a bad spot.

That’s how good our WR room is now.
Rocco spreads the ball around so well that I am sure there will be others that have big games. Having a consistent outside and deep threat really makes like easier for the TEs and RBs.
I know the program says Ankeny but he’s a Roosevelt kid. His dad and uncles all played there, fun group. Glad to see a DMPS kid playing so well in big time college football. Rare these days.
Which was surprising it turned like that, when Andrews was brought on as S&C director it was considered a big time hire.
Kagy appears to be doing quite well.
He’s routinely missing holes and trying to bounce runs. He’ll have games where he’s more decisive and then he’ll have games like last night. He can be really good but just inconsistent.
He was a nice guy, well liked by everyone. But he was checked out.
Congrats on the win; very impressive. We were manhandled on both sides of the line. We wanted a measuring stick, and we got it ... right across the knuckles. We still have our kicking game concerns. The offense should improve as the year goes on, but it's a little discouraging to see the defense pushed around between the tackles so much and to let people get behind them the way they did. On the other hand, you've got one of the more physical teams we'll see this year. We should be able to rebound against OK St, but we'll still have questions. It may shape up as one of those "any given Saturday" seasons for us. Good luck the rest of the way. You should be right in the mix.
Verizon had a widespread outage that day. I know.multiple people all over the state that had the same problem, it just happened to occur during the game.
Nothing nefarious, just an older S&C guy at the tail end of his career who wasn't all-in on running a high-performing program at Iowa State. They weren't pushing the roster as hard as needed. Part of that was by design, but the program started leaning more toward maintenance and inury prevention instead of making guys more explosive and turning 3 stars into NFL guys. They needed some younger energy and drive, and Kagy fixed things quickly. But it was more than just the S&C program. They didn't fill the Purdy leadership vacuum, and the roster and staff weren't as connected as previous squads. Hence the coaching turnover after 2022. I don't remember the exact quote, but Rocco essentially said they shed some dead weight, which is really insightful from a guy who usually plays it very safe in interviews. He corrected himself, but it was enlightening.

Regarding the player/staff connection, it's incredible how close Mouser and Rocco are, and how they just seem to make each other better. I'm not sure we've ever had a situation like this before.
Do you understand that no matter what condition your body is in, there are some positions that your body is just not supposed to be in, and that injuries will ALWAYS happen? If you put enough stress on a joint, it WILL tear. There are very large men on that field applying incredible force to the other men on that field. Believe it or not, they CAN injure someone.
P.S. Three other thoughts:
01. I loved going for two on the first possession (due to the kicker situation).
02. I loved the late FG (due to the kicker situation).
03. I had my first corn dog ever, and I had acid reflux in the middle of the night.

I was there and people around me were mad he didn't ejected when there wasn't anything beyond the hit on the returner.
He definitely did lean into it but it was a 'good/clean' hit.
I guess if you're going to commit the penalty might as well make them feel it.
I wouldn't go that far.
Breece's ability to hit a hole regardless of patience or vision was quite literally next level as we see today.
If Sama has those qualities I don't see him making it in the league.
That was a poorly designed pass route by the receivers. Two guys runnning routes that end up 5-10 yards apart to pull the whole defense to them.
