AP Top 25 - ISU receiving votes

Is it ridiculous to anybody else that we need to be at least fringe top 25 to have any shot at making a bowl game?

You have to sadly be a top 80 team to make a bowl now.

#edit. I think I know what you're saying...have to beat decent teams to get even 6 wins.

Outside of TCU and Okie State ISU should find 6 wins if they continue the recent trends.

The point he was making is that's not true at all.

The fact that we're just outside top 25 and barely entering bowl predictions says something.

Its unfortunate postseason eligibility doesn't factor in SoS somehow.

Oh, i agree. Our remaining schedule has 1 game that it would be a massive disappointment to lose (Baylor, who will probably go 1-11 or 0-12) and then 5 games that are all 'winnable'. If we don't pick up 1 win in those 5 games, i'll be pretty damn disappointed.

Meh, I don't think so. No one on this board should be going into this game expecting a win, IMO. Dominated them last year, for sure, but that won't necessarily translate to this year's game. Last year they just looked completely disinterested in playing in the cold after we punched them in the mouth a couple of times.

Big 12 has no Jan 1 bowl tie ins...so it's New Years Six or bust for the conference

All the media folks talking up the idea that ISU should be ranked also helps, puts us on the ballot of some of the media types that arent watching the big 12.

I think we should be ranked, but it is hard to vote someone out that does not loose today, and I have not seen many if any top 25 losses. So we may be at 26, but not in the top 25. There are two top 25 matchups later tonight, so at least 2 of the top 25 will have losses, but may not knock them out of the top 25 as the lowest ranked, I believe is 18th Michigan playing #2 Penn State and the other is #11 USC at #13 Notre Dame. If Baylor beats WV, then we would likely be ranked.
