Anyone else rooting for Nebraska for the first time ever?

Four reasons I'm rooting against Iowa:

1) I grew up and currently live in eastern Iowa, which is filled with Hawk fans and not too many Husker fans.
2) Hawk fans still live in the 80's glory while Husker fans still live in the 90's glory, so at least Husker fans are more recent.
3) Nebby is no longer a rival with ISU while Iowa is still a rival.
4) Nebby's win will make them bowl-eligible, however their fans for the most part are down. It will knock Iowa out of the playoff picture. Iowa's win will push them to the playoffs, which will keep their fans still arrogant and demand respect. It will knock Nebby from a bowl, however their fans will still be down and not have much change.

Exactly, just because Nebraska wins doesn't mean their fans will all of a sudden think they're back to a national power. I'm getting sick to my stomach seeing all of you guys who I used to think were diehards spouting off disgusting stuff about wanting Iowa to win because we're supporting our state. *puke*

And let's not forget that Nebraksa's 90's glory included three national titles. Iowa's 80's "glory" included getting rolled in two Rose Bowls.

I was going to be impartial and just watch since I will be around Hawkeye family members but then I keep seeing backhanded football and Rhoads comments so now I'm hoping Nebbie wins

These two are my most hated football programs of all time and it isn't even hard to root for the Huskers when the opponent is AIB East.

Would help to de-troll this place too.
 
I'm hoping for a tie game with a few seconds left. Then either team attempts a game winning field goal. Just as the ball is kicked a meteor smashes into Memorial Stadium leaving both fans bases to argue who would have the game for eternity.

In all seriousness, both teams have a lot riding on this game. It should be very entertaining. Since I'm not a fan of either team, I'll just watch for the entertainment value.

Just think how much fun this game would be if Pelini was still there. :realmad:<--- Emoji Bo Pelini

You must be a hermit or have a hearing problem. I can't go anywhere without hearing their crap. They are also thrilled that Rhoads is gone, I suppose because he beat them fairly often. Still spouting Elmer J. Fudd nonsense.
 
I always root for the in-state teams, unless they are playing the Cyclones. There are obnoxious and great fans everywhere (although proportions definitely vary).

But to be honest, I do have an ulterior motive in wanting Eastern Iowa University to do well down the stretch. The better their season ends, the bigger the win for Iowa State will be next year at Kinnick, yielding a bigger bump towards ranking. (Next year it is an all-instate warmup in preparation for our first conference game -TCU at the beginning of the season [UNI at Jack Trice, then away at Eastern Iowa U, followed by TCU away).

Kicking the posterior of the National Champs would be fine by me.
 
If Iowa and Nebraska we're both undefeated it would be a hard choice but since Nebraska has very little to play for (loser bowl) I'll be rooting for Nebraska. The best scenario would be for them to get beat last second at Nebraska, Ohio State and Michigan State both lose, and then Iowa get killed by the Big10East champion. I think this is about the only way the Big 10 doesn't get a team in the playoffs.

Please tell me you're not serious in using that term at the end of your post. I'd be just fine beating a top 25 team on the road, no need to go to extremes. It's not like we need to get an early boost towards the playoff rankings. I'd trade off beating #23 Iowa instead of a #5 Iowa team vs. what hell it would be like for them to back into a championship.
 
All you Iowa haters , just come to western Iowa and see what real hate is for the Fuskers
 
I have zero hate for Nebraska. Ever since they left the b12, my disdain for them has receded because they dont matter anymore to our fate. I think a lot of them feel the same way. We went to a holiday parade the other night and a Husker fan came up to me after seeing my ISU jacket. Said he was surprised about the PR thing, sad that Paul is gone since he liked him, and said is excited and hopeful for our future. We talked about the Iowa game for a bit as well. It never used to be that way around here on the west side of the state. I think the Huskers over here are finally in tune with the Iowa annoyance.
 
I live in Lincoln - notwithstanding our best efforts, our children are Husker fans. It's annoying to be here if you're not a Husker fan. All media is all Husker. Inasmuch as I'd like to see them not go to a bowl, I'd rather Iowa lose.
