Me and my roommates, and the 4 roommates next door are thinking about doing the whole net flix video subscription thing. I'm wondering if anyone on here has anything good/bad to say about this netflix thing.

My questions are how long does it usually take to receive the movies that you want, do you have to pay for shipping back to the company, is there a maximum amount of movies you can get a month?

Any feedback would be excellent as we generally watch 1-2 movies per day and RedBox Dvds at mcdonalds just doesn't cut it and either does going to family video for 4 dollar rentals for 3 nights.

I just sent back a movie on Tuesday, and will be getting a new one today in the mail. They have tons of different plans - we're on a two-at-a-time plan where we can get as many as we want. It's $14.99.

You get the movies usually in 1 business day. No charge to ship back. A max of 3 at home at one time. No max per month.

It's great. To answer your questions...There are different plans for the # of movies you can get at 1 time. I currently have the 3 movies at 1 time and can get an unlimited # per month. You can get 1-7 movies per month. Go to their website for details.

Normally if I send a movie back on Monday, I'll have it on Wednesday or Thursday. But with the 3 at a time plan, I'm rarely stuck without any movies.

Subscribed in November, love the service!! They have a center in Des Moines, we live 125 miles away so it takes one day to send a movie and one day to get a different one back. Most plans are unlimited, it's a matter of how many you can have out at once. The return envelope is prepaid, put the movie in and drop in the mail.

If I drop a movie off at the blue box by the post office in the morning I generally get one back the very next day.... I love Netflix, probably the best $15/mo I have ever spent!

I use netflix and couldn't be happier with it... a brilliant concept that was going to sink blockbuster until they started doing the same thing netflix does... I've used it for almost 2 yrs now and I truly enjoy no more stupid trips to the video store for rentals and returns. Plus, if you hear about a movie you're interested in, you can easily look it up and put it on your list.... very handy way to keep track of what you have seen and what you want to see. Also, they have a "friends and community" section where you can recommend movies (or warn them about bad ones!) to friends on your list, and you can see what your friends have viewed recently.. it's verrry reasonable in price and you save gas from not driving to the vid store or hy-vee.....

We just signed up a couple weeks ago. I LOVE IT! We have the 2 at a time unlimited for $13.99 or whatever the price is.

I sent it on Tuesday in a pre-paid envelope and have another movie by Thursday in my mailbox. You can also watch "on-demand" movies from your PC for free. We watched an episode of Dexter that way last weekend.

I love netflix. They have such a wide selection and are pretty darn fast as well. They also have a new feature where you can watch some movies online. The selection is obviously a lot smaller than the rental program but you get it for free with your subscription. I use it for tv shows and documentaries that I wouldn't want to have shipped to me.

You can get more movies per month from Blockbuster's plan, since you get a free rental every time you take a movie that was mailed to you into a store to have it sent back. Plus, they send you free rentals by email each month.

I've had both BB and Netflix, they're both great. Netflix has movies online you can stream now, too.

Netflix is awesome. I've got the plan to have 6 out at a time. Like mentioned it usually a 2-3 day turn around. If I mail one back it will register as returned the next day and you will get the next one off your list the day after that. Hardly ever does it take longer unless it needs to be shipped from a warehouse farther away (local is in Des Moines I think). I go through 10-12 a week. Movies come in an envelope that you just tear the outside flap off and return in the same envelope for free.

We had netflix, and now have Blockbuster. We love having the stores around, so we can go exchange movies in store if we want something immediately. It's the exact as Netflix in time too. I put one in the mail yesterday (at my house), it was received this morning and already have an email telling me my next one is out the door and will be here tomorrow. They're both great services.
Netflix has started the streaming online to keep up with the ability to go to a store and get a movie with Blockbuster. My plan is $14.99/month, get two at a time, 3 free exchanges at the store, plus the free rental coupons you accumulate. It's great.
After having both - I prefer Blockbuster, but it's probably because i have a store 1/4 mile from my house, so it's really convenient.

I suggest watching the episode of The Office where Kelly explains to Ryan the intricacies of the Netflix queue.

My sentiment exactly!

When you turn one in at the store, they scan it right there, and that triggers delivery of the next one in your queue immediately. You also leave the store with a new rental for every one you turn in in-store.

Great for if you have time to watch a ton of movies!

Now that football season is over - it seems i'm watching more movies. :) I actually have a friend who only watches sports and movies - no shows on television. He says he's seen so many movies that he's now just going through the "Best Picture" Oscar winners since the beginning to see things he's never seen before...

Netflix is awesome. I highly recommend it. They VOD feature is pretty swell too, even though the selection is a bit limited. There's a lot of stuff I've watched and enjoyed that I might otherwise not have. It's well worth it for the entertainment value, though.

It's a great service. No shipping costs whatsoever. If I return a disc on Monday, we usually have a new one by Wednesday. No late fees. I have received two discs that skip in which case I have the option of getting a different disc (same movie) or watching it and returning it as I normally would. Usually, we just watch it and return it. Their website is incredible as well. Let's you keep a list of all of the movies you want to see, then sends you the movies starting at the top of your list. Ratings, reviews, etc.

I love netflix. Have been using it since college. Sioux City sucks for shipping however. It takes forever to get movies. When I lived in Wisco, I would get them within a day or so.

No Blockbuster in Ames, so I go with Netflix. The streaming movies are great--if you have a PC and can sit comfortably at your computer long enough to watch a movie. (I have a PC laptop, so it works if I want to watch something and don't want to wait for it to come in the mail.)

When I lived in Sioux City, I think I usually got my movies a couple of days after sending in the previous one--maybe three days. Your nearest shipping center is Omaha, isn't it? Seems like if I can get movies from Des Moines within a couple of days, Sioux City ought to be able to get them within a couple of days from Omaha.
