Gibson will get a few minutes but when Booker comes out I would expect Babb or Ejim to move in and play the 4 spot. When White is out either Gibson will sub in and fill in for a few minutes or Booker could even move in and play the 5 spot. Booker has enough size and is capable of it. I think having Ejim or Babb play the 4 for a few minutes a time instead of having to bring in Railey will still be much more productive.
This is why I think it'll be Ejim coming off the bench in most games. Of all the players that we have he is the most versatile. With a starting line up of the following:
McGee
Scotty
Allen
White
Booker
Ejim can come in and spell the 4 with White or Booker sliding over to guard the 5. Babb can come in and spell the SG/SF spot. This will allow Allen to take over ball handling duties to give McGee a rest.
After White or Booker catch their breath they come in and Ejim moves over to the 3. Then Babb can slide over to the 2 and Allen can take over with ball handling duties while McGee/Scotty get a rest.
Now what is nice with this year is the flexibility and depth. So now Ejim, Babb, and Allen need a breather. You can put in McGee, Scotty, and Sledge in. It is like changing lines in hockey.
Umm Ejim set the Big 12 freshman record for offensive rebounds if I'm not mistaken. On top of that during the CCL he led the entire league in points and rebounds per game for almost the entire time until the end (still 3rd in points 1st in rebounds). What could you possibly be thinking saying that Booker would start over Ejim?

I think with this year it's not going to be the starting lineup that is important but the number of minutes that each player logs. CFH has said numerous times he is going to press and run. We also have a very flexible lineup that will vary depending on the situation. With that in mind I think the minutes will break down like this (not necessarily who will start)...
PG: McGee (20), Allen (10), Sledge (5), Bubu (5)
SG: Scotty (20), Allen (10), Mcgee (5), Babb (5)
SG/SF: Ejim (15), Babb (15), Allen (10)
PF: White (20), Ejim (10), Babb (5), Gibson (5)
C: Booker (25), Railey (10), White (5)

When I think of Booker I think of Damion Staple. I don't think he'll be extremely productive numbers wise but I think he'll provide very valuable minutes.
For one, if we start 2 posts, Book will be one of them. Melvin isn't a 4. He'll guard opposing 4's because we need depth and he's a great athlete and strong. I think there's a good chance he's the first guy off the bench.
This roster will be a almost completely new with a bunch of new players vying for playing time. Last years 'stats' and the CCL don't mean much at this point. The starting 5 that gives us the best chance to start a game well and presents the best matchup will start, the players that give us the best chance to win will play the most. I really think Anthony Booker has a great chance to start as one of our posts and Melvin will come off the bench. That is not a knock of Melvin or what he accomplished as a freshman. He'll play a lot of minutes.
Who was "bashing on Booker"?What's up with people bashing on Booker? I think Booker is better than Godfrey (can Godfrey shoot three feet away from the basket? no). Booker will surprise many of us with his defensive AND offensive skills.

Actually Godfrey was a pretty decent FT shooter and last I checked that was 15ft from the basket.

If Railey sticks, as in stays out of trouble, he has playing time advantage in the Big 12. It helps Booker to have been on the team for a year, but his production at SIU certainly doesn't jump off the page at you. I will be disappointed if he isn't an upgrade, but I won't be shocked. He certainly has the body-let's hope he has the head.
You are correct that his production at SIU didn't jump off the page, but you could have said the same thing about DG's numbers under McDermott. Different coaches and playing styles allow for different players to thrive. I would like to think our fast style of play and having CFH at the helm will increase his productivity. I'm not saying he will make a DG like jump in, but I'm hoping for a fairly significant one.
Having said that, I am not familiar with the SIU's style of play or coach at all, so I could just be blowing smoke. Does anyone else know if they played a game similar to ours?
