Ames PD has a Prius?

It doesn't have a light bar on top (maybe it's inside) so I doubt it's going to be used like the other cars. I can't imagine what it'd be like to get pulled over by this.

I think it's the equivalent to those pick ups they have, only the meter maids drive them. can you imagine if they used these as patrol vehicles, the officer that got assigned to one of these would take **** from everyone? prius's are the international symbol for "tool". polar opposite from the police forces that have a few chargers or camaro's that are the car that everyone wishes they got assigned.

Maybe they bought the Prius as a rookie hazing facilitator.

"I call car ramrod!"

It is actually the Chief's car. It has a light bar on the inside. Other officer's use it to drive to training through out the state. The purchase is an over arching attempt by the City of Ames to be more green.

When was the last time the Ames police were in a chase I wonder. The last area "chase" I remember was in Nevada when the cop pulled the murder suspect over while he was riding a bicyle. The suspect then proceeded to steal the cop car (somehow) and lead police on a chase.

In that case, a slow cop car would be beneficial. Easier to catch once it's stolen.

Don't forget the pregnant cow they chased all over Ames last week!!:biglaugh::biglaugh:

Public urination, public intoxication, underage possession, serving alcohol to a minor, unregistered kegs, couches on front porch...

The Ames PD is overworked!
