Ames NIL Club announced

Curt's Clones - A collective to just simply pass out cash to the various student athletes and prospective student athletes.

How's it work - Simply send a donation earmarked for whatever athlete or prospective athlete you want the money to go to. If the prospective student athlete does not choose Iowa State then you simply redirect the donation to another. When I give them the money we will take a selfie flashing the cash with a shout out to the donor and that is your proof it got into the correct hands.

Is my donation tax deductible - Yes it is tax deductible (as long as you engage Curt to prepare your taxes).
Can I see a copy of the IRS letter approving your 501(c)(3) status? <[B^P

Hope this works for you:

Obviously I was being hyperbolic with communistic but how is this good for someone like dekkers? He will end up doing 5x the amount of work as the backup kicker and getting paid the exact same. And if dekkers isn’t involved it’ll just go to the next most marketable player. It’s not going to end well is all I’m saying. And if I’m the backup kicker and NIL is something I really care about I’d try something unique like start a YouTube channel where I talk to other players one on one. That is what I mean about come having to be more creative if they want to earn NIL money.

Feel like this is going to get awkward.

Blum's personal livelihood is contingent on getting donations to We Will.

For the players.

Who he's now in competition with, whether either side admits it or not.
Zactly.

Appears to be the players for the most part:

"How does the Ames NIL Club (“ANC”) work?

The ANC is a player-led fan community that benefits members of the Iowa State football team. Through the Ames NIL Club, these members of the team provide fans with digital content and experiences such as digital meet-and-greets, player-recorded content, and much more throughout the year. The ANC generates revenue through fans subscribing to the club. A monthly commitment of any amount allows fans to join the NIL Club and access ANC-exclusive chat rooms, message boards, and content.

How are athletes involved with the ANC?

Current Iowa State Football players use their social platforms to promote ANC and they participate in digital events such as meet-and-greets, Q&As, and interviews. The players also create and distribute exclusive content for club members. The players have teamed up with YOKE, a complete membership platform that provides business tools for athletes to launch a paywalled community, to ensure the digital experiences are executed properly. All players are invited to participate in the club and proceeds are split equally amongst the actively participating athletes."
It's a company that's copy and pasting the site for other schools. Rumor is the company is taking 20-30%.

Everyone is still able to pursue other NIL opportunities. It's not like Dekkers is locked into only doing the NIL club. Not sure how everyone getting a piece of the pie is a bad thing.

I don’t get worked up about the percentage off the top that a company takes – that’s normal for something like endorsements and agents and the students know it going in. While any opportunity for players to benefit could be good in theory, I don’t see this moving the needle for them individually.

I really don’t think this changes much – the whole concept still drastically favors the already wealthy. Not a lot of national brands are likely to get too invested in the smaller markets like Ames/Iowa – or at least at a level that’s going to move the needle. And local companies that are more likely to do a deal with an Iowa State player are more likely to go direct or through We Will.

I don't think Blum and the people running We Will need to worry about this being much competition based on how sign ups are going thus far(63 people). I plan on contributing to We Will mostly due to the charity aspect of it and the positive impact it has on the community. I imagine most fans are the same.

The counter to this (and I’m not taking one side or the other) is that this is a great way to help teammates. Chris said on a podcast that for multiple events, he’s had players ask if a teammate (who presumably needed a little extra $) could also participate. Hypothetically, this could be a way for, say, a QB, who has access to plenty of other opportunities, to make sure his OL/teammates are getting some, too.

In Blum we trust. I feel comfortable with We Will simply because I trust Blum to have the best interest of ISU and their athletes in mind. I just don't trust a gambling site to have those same interests. Just like any donation made to a foundation/501c you should research what % is actually going to the cause. ANC is essentially a cut/paste model that is easily replicated across the country and honestly Yoke would be foolish for not trying. They could make a ton of money off the deal. Yoke will make over 20x more off of this than any individual athlete. You'll have 80 kids splitting 80% of the proceeds for 1% each. Yoke is one entity taking 20%.

To each their own but at least for now my funds will go to WeWill :)

From the 63 people, each of the 80 players gets approx. $14.08 (rounded, at a 30% off the top take).
