Amazon Prime Day

Ordered something Friday morning and four days later it hasn't even shipped yet.

I guess I'm not saying it's impossible - sometimes the item will say something like "expected to ship 10/19" or something like that if it's not in stock. They always give an estimated delivery date at the order confirmation screen, & 95+% of the time it's here by that date for us. When we need something quick we make sure we only choose something that says "order within the next xx hours to receive within 2 days".

You in a small town or something?

If your interest is strictly movies, then I agree with you, but I've enjoyed a number of their shows. The Boys, Utopia, Jack Ryan, Hanna, Man in the High Castle were all entertaining.
Counterpart is a little known Amazon original, but it's fantastic. Espionage thriller with a sci-fi twist.

no not really.

You can use an Alexa device to say "order an Amazon smart plug" to get a $20 off coupon. So $4.99 + tax.
I think you can use the Alexa app on your phone to do this if you don't have a Dot, Echo, or whatever.
They're handy for things like timers for lights. I use one for a water distiller so that it does not evaporate all the water (to keep the temperature wear down). So it can handle a decent electric load.

Amazon offers something like this somewhat often - Prime Day, Cyber Monday

Since the Grimes location opened it seems to me that it's more based on delivery service than location. I can consistently get 1-2 day shipping at my home now delivered by the amazon vans. At work it is usually about a week and that is still delivered by UPS. I used to order things to work all the time so that packages don't sit on my porch all day but the difference in shipping time has made that much less appealing now.

For example, I ordered something this morning. Estimated delivery date to my home was 10/15 and estimated delivery date to my work was 10/19. My hunch is that since Amazon has developed such a large internal delivery system, their cost with UPS has probably gone up so they don't expedite the shipping as much.

I've seen that one too. I like JK Simmons and I enjoyed the series, but at times I found it difficult to remember which Howard Silk was which.

I'm sure some of the shipping delays are COVID related. Don't ask me why, except maybe the shipping system is overloaded as a result of more online shopping.

I ordered a sectional sofa from Ashley Furniture in June and they said 6-8 weeks. It's been 4 months and counting. I'm about to have to ask for my money back.

Infomercials from the 1980's had better service than that.

I'm genuinely surprised about the volume of people having issues with Prime Shipments. Maybe it's just because I live in Houston but I rarely get stuff outside of the two day window (except during hurricanes). A lot of times it shows up next day. Otherwise Amazon has been very clear about expected delivery windows.

I do try and buy from other places at times but sometimes Amazon is hard to beat for convenience and being able to get a bunch of weird stuff in one shot.

Subtitles helped me in that department. I was trying to pick up some German.:)

I ended up buying a cheap pair of noise canceling earbuds today.

While we’re on the subject of Amazon Prime shows is anybody else watching Hunters? I got started on it a week or so ago and it’s pretty good.

I did the early Prime members deal a few weeks ago for the latest Echo Dot. I got three new ones for I think $33.

don't pay for Amazon prime.. yet still receive free shipping in about a week the vast majority of time.. only have to order above $35 worth of stuff at a time.. always found it funny with those who had prime while living overseas. everything arrived in the same weekly Dip Pouches anyway...

Two day shipping is really hit or miss and size of town doesn't seem to matter.

Bought some stuff on Amazon yesterday for my brother and had it shipped to his small rural Iowa town. 2 day shipping, no problem. Scheduled to show up tomorrow.

Went shopping for myself. Everything said it would get there in 2 days. During checkout I switched back to my Minneapolis address and everything jumped to 5 days at the earliest. Switched it back to Iowa and everything went back to 2 days. So I shipped it all to him because I was heading back this weekend to visit.

Quality of video streaming selection has gone down. Their algorithm makes it a real pain in the ass if you want to explore and watch something different.
