Allen Lazard- NFL Draft

Only good things about Allen coming out after the combine. He is still going to have the "a bit too slow and bulky and can't separate" tag on him. But he only helped his draft stock this past weekend.

Agree. Now that he has a good 40 time, they can go back to his film for their final evaluation. And that's when they'll say- "Crap, #5 is the best player on the field."

Man that TE Gesicki has some damn impressive numbers. 247 lbs and bigger hands then Lazard. 4.54-40 yd, 22 reps, and a 41.5" vertical (are you kidding me?).

Also looking briefly at the CB's and a lot of 4.3 numbers and then Josh Jackson 4.56?.

From the eye test he was similar to Kelvin Benjamin or Devin Funchess but he actually tested closer to Courtland Sutton and Kenny Golladay. Wish we had agility numbers but it was a big day for Lazard. He jumped(ran) into day 2 or a top 100 selection.

Allen Lazard 6'5" 227lbs 9 3/4" hands.
4.55 forty | 17 Reps | 38" vert | 122" broad jump

Kelvin Benjamin 6'5" 240lbs 10 1/4" hands (Round 1 pick 28)
4.61 forty | 13 reps | 32.5" vert | 119" broad | 7.33s 3 cone

Devin Funchess 6'4" 232lbs 9 3/4" hands (Round 2 pick 9)
4.70 forty | 17 reps | 38.5" vert | 122" broad

Courtland Sutton 6'3" 218lbs 9 3/4" hands (1st round projection)
4.54 forty | 18 reps | 35.5" vert | 124" broad | 6.57s 3 cone (elite)

Kenny Golladay 6'4" 218lbs 9 3/4" hands (Round 3 pick 32)
4.50 forty | 18 reps | 35.5" vert | 120" broad | 7.00s 3 cone

I see a team getting a discount Courtland Sutton with more production against better competition. Sutton was held catchless against TCU in 2017. He hit them 5-113 the year before so there has been production there. The combine doesn't assure anything about his future NFL career but, it's a hell of a lot better to test well than test poorly.
Am I the only one that silently chuckles when reading “hand size”?

Somehow that guy rumbled in for a 4.54 40 but if you watch him play--or run/catch at the combine-- he runs like an OL. Very stiff.

At 6'5" and 38" vertical he's not going to need to worry about being "a bit too slow and bulky and can't separate" - whoever his QB is going to be is just going to be able to throw it up and let Lazard go get it (kind of like Megatron after he continued to suffer all of his foot and toe injuries and it killed his speed). And if Lazard learns to become a prolific route runner, well, we're talking about a perennial Pro Bowler.

It'd be interesting to see if a team like the Packers draft Lazard and what he could do with a consistently all-world QB. It'd make sense with Jordy Nelson nearing the end of the back 9 of his career, Randall Cobb in the slot and Davante Adams on the other side locked in for the next 3-4 years.

Do you see AL lining up on the outside?

I'd love Allen on my Niners. Got to try and start balancing out the Hawk presence with Beathard (probably backup to Jimmy G. for this year at least) and Kittle (who is very good).
