With all these crazy coaching salaries, I would think KF would be threatening to leave again if Barta didn’t back the Brinks truck up.

Why would he leave at this stage after 20+ years?

Generally agree, but I also think in today's climate there's something to be said for trying to keep some recruiting continuity if Freeman is truly a star in that regard. I think ND sees what's happening with OU's recruits after their coach blindsided them.

Also, recruiting to ND isn't as easy as it is at the other blue bloods.

I do understand that, especially given what happened to OU's class the last couple days. But ND just seems like a place where the traditions hold. It's also a place that can get an answer from a coach on taking the job, whether they plan to finish their season with their current team or not.

I personally think it is going to be Fickell for HC, and he'll keep Freeman for continuity. Cincy might try to get Freeman for a head coach?

Personally, I feel like Marcus Freeman is a no brainer, rising star in the profession. They'd be idiots not to hire him.

ND has the #4 recruiting class this year and #2 for 2023 so far. Any hire but Freeman means starting over on both of those. I think that will be a huge bonus in the Freeman column when ND sits down to think about going with him vs. interviewing Fickell or Campbell.

Don’t you think they’ll make ficklell or Campbell keep freeman?
