Its decending into madness.

Here are some satisfaction levels from the Big 12
Baylor - Satisfied
Oklahoma State - Satsified
Kansas - Honeymoon Phase
Texas Tech - Honeymoon Phase
Oklahoma - Honeymoon Phase
TCU - Honeymoon Phase

Texas - Miserable - [honeymoon phase already over!]
West Virginia - Satisfied tilting toward miserable
Kansas State - Satisfied tilting toward miserable
Iowa State - Satisfied tilting toward miserable
Who is this according to?

Why would you say Iowa State is satisfied tilting toward miserable?

Not really sure what this means but we were pretty fortunate to dodge the USC bullet so it’s not like CMC is telling everyone to go pound sand.

Edit: if you “dumb” this you clearly do not read the Patreon but I guess you are happier with your head in the clouds

“Building a program has always been my dream,” Campbell said. “Whether it was at the collegiate level or whether it was at the high school level, to me, that doesn’t matter. It’s always been about people for me.”

“Whether it’s been the last week or every day in the last six years, I’ve woken up with a passion and action to lead our program the right way. I really think it just comes back to your actions speak louder than your words. I think that we are in a time and a place where a lot of people say a lot of things, but I think your actions are what is indicative of who you are and what you’re about.”

It's about return on investment. For a private school, having a known football program can be important to the school itself.

And in the end, profits are profits and this is a private school. It doesn't matter where they came from and what the pandemic situation is. Assuming those profits would have gone to the general school fund anyways, does that matter?

I can guarentee that there are some large medical school/hospital donors that it matters to. It's hard to fundraise and ask university donors or states (for public schools) for money to improve the university and keep tuition down when the optics are you are then shipping out large amounts to athletics.

In addition to The U and UW Madison, consider KState. Bill Snyder saved a football team, university, and municipality not ounce, but twice.

Wisconsin and Kansas State are two places that have done it well and have pretty good balance in athletics working with the university to improve the academic profiles of the schools. But they were also doormat programs before so had room to grow and improve.

The system has worked pretty well with most states having a flagship university or two. Athletics has built school pride even with the usual ups and downs of team success. Several things have made that work though: buy home games against lower levels so a lot of teams can have a winning record, bowl games being achievable for even a down program with the right turnaround, and either regional smaller conferences or now division championships being attainable.

With the current TV/media climate, conference realignment, a larger emphasis on making college football a national competition where only the playoffs matter, I can't help but wonder if the benefits that come to schools like Wisconsin, KState, or Iowa St are going to be the same. Investment in college athletics can help the universities but it's also a zero sum game. This last couple years has been on a whole different level and the more it feels like pro football light, I do worry that there will be a lot of universities that suffer if they don't get smarter about how they are spending their money.

Do you think this means Campbell wasn’t interested in USC or Notre Dame?

I don't think he was interested in USC but I do think he was interested in Notre Dame. And I don't have a problem with that. ND is one of his dream jobs so I am not going to be mad at him for showing interest.

You can love your current job while still inquiring about your dream job.

Well CW and 247 reporting contradicts the first thing you said.

Could be or also likely it's damage control. Having it out there that you wanted a job you didn't get isn't a good look for recruiting or athletic department morale.

I'll be honest, I'm a little surprised how the USC and Notre Dame news played out. I don't have a problem with Matt Campbell being interested, and if he took it, I'd wish him well. But I do kind of wish he had an agent to handle some of this stuff to pursue back channel communications and handle some of the PR stuff.

Taking a call and listening aka USC vs contacting ND are not the same things. So it depends on your definition of interested. Merely listening to an offer and asking questions doesn't mean interest to me, that is doing your due diligence. Whereas contacting ND to let them know you are interested, to me is showing interest.

I get hit up by recruiters all the time and listen to what they have to say/ask them questions but that doesn't mean I am interested, it means I'm listening and doing my due diligence.

I followed this pretty closely and no one has reported anything other than their best guess regarding USC.

My personal best guess is that he listened more than normal to USC and might have been really close to wanting it.

I don't think he would, seems like a very different culture that he would prefer. I also feel like with the NIL stuff, Nike is going to be calling the shots. I've known a couple kids that played d1 ball and each said Oregon it's the sleaziest program they encountered. Offered drugs, money, women almost as soon as they got on campus. Lots of meddling from the money men.
Kind of like basketball and this guy?

More at the people who just think CMC is leaving after some random basement dweller on twitter "links" him to any sort of job.

I kinda think his sole opportunity has come down to this.
My guess he will be offered and will take it.

Jamie is friends with the Oregon AD. I'm guessing that doesn't help us in this case.

Friend of mine who is an Oregon fan says ESPN is reporting Oregon is very interested in Campbell. Not surprising but wondering if there is any traction to this?
Let the coaching carousel continue!
