The ball is entirely in ND's court right now.
Seems pretty likely MC would want that job, so he isn't going to sign an extension until its firm that that job isnt available. But he's not going to come out and say that.
Aranda's name has come up, but I believe he's getting an extension.
Gundy's made himself a bit toxic with some of his opinionating. Wouldnt take him off the board at all schools, but certainly some.
Campbell has never addressed anything regarding other jobs....why would he now? If he did the next time a job came up and he didn't deny interest he'd get crucified.
I agree. But if they were going to go with the DC I think we would have heard by now. The only buzz with that is fans wanting him.
And I’m not convinced they wait for Fickell.
Cincinnati is a good job. Elite? No. But that place has produced consistent winners in recent memory - Dantonio, Fickel, Kelly, etc...
You have to be able to recruit Ohio and get the scrapes from Ohio State's table, sprinkle them in with some talented athletes / skill guys from other states and boom, you have a pretty decent team. Especially if and when they are able to recruit Florida

agree on Campbell not addressing things being standard practice. As for the timing regarding the DC, maybe, maybe not. Even if they think he's their guy, they wouldn't be doing their due diligence if they didn't take their time and do a deep dive and kick the tires
You get like 10 or 15 practices for prep. They will use them later.

You are only allowed something like 15 practices for bowl games so they aren't going to use them until they know an opponent.
I think it was 15? Maybe it's 10 now but yeah, they will certainly get them ... and regardless of the coaching staff, those practices are huge for the young players
I will never understand this logic, where it’s so burdensome to mouth the words “I’m not leaving ISU”. You’re paid millions of dollars a year, I’m pretty sure the money can heal those lip blisters you’d never get from stomping down rumors. We act like he’d have to spend weeks every year denying this. Just dumb.
If ND takes our coach, I say we do a swap similar to chizik/ Rhoads hire, they take our HC and we hire their DC freeman.
It’s been just over 24 hours. Only you would make that mean the DC is out.
There’s been a ton of buzz Freeman is the favorite by those close to ND. One could just as easily say if it were to be MC, we would have heard something, anything by now. There’s been little talk he’s the preferred choice.
Iirc 2018/19 he just said 'they have nothing to worry about' or something when asked.
I don't think that happened this time. No real direct answers including from JP.
