For some people it can be. Although the physical side effects are extremely minor in comparison to alcohol and also for the vast majority of people it isnt. We do need more studies on this however because the past studies have been heavily focused on showing why THC should remain illegal.Except that it has been proven that it is also physically addictive
I get that, in that case you’re consuming an illegal substance (not sure if medical is legal is Iowa) and that can already be a major problem in that stateIt is not legal in the State of Iowa, where I would venture the majority of people reading this very thread reside.
THC is kind of a double edged sword with sleep. It helps you fall asleep faster, but you don't get the same kind of deep REM cycles. When I use weed more regularly, I stop dreaming. Some people (with PTSD nightmares for example) seek out that feature, but average Joe probably doesn't want to miss out on the deep REM benefits.Just kind of skimmed this thread but I saw a few of the having a few drinks to fall asleep posts. Somebody probably already mentioned this but switching that habit out with a thc gummy can work wonders for a lot of people and you get better sleep overall.
Also if you use THC regularly and aren’t dreaming (this depends on the amount you take and when) if you stop people tend to have incredibly vivid dreams and possibly nightmares for a brief period.THC is kind of a double edged sword with sleep. The other health benefits of THC vs alcohol are undeniable though.
It doesn’t matter if it’s medical or not it is still considered illegal to operate under its influence.I get that, in that case you’re consuming an illegal substance (not sure if medical is legal is Iowa) and that can already be a major problem in that state
I've had tolerance break nightmares once before, they only lasted a couple of nights but it wasn't the most funAlso if you use THC regularly and aren’t dreaming (this depends on the amount you take and when) if you stop people tend to have incredibly vivid dreams and possibly nightmares for a brief period.
You aren’t operating under its influence and I have never once said that. THC stays in your system but it isn’t influencing you the whole time it’s detectable. That’s why in states like Michigan where it is legal you haven’t seen an explosion of OWI/DUI, in fact they have gone down because you can’t test for THC in the moment. It doesn’t matter if it’s medical or not it is still considered illegal to operate under its influence.
I don't know that you're wrong, but there is a distinction between "safer" and "more legal" or "less legal"Please consider the combination of these facts:
1. Many places of employment test for THC
2. Driving with ANY detectable amounts of THC and/or its metabolites are considered a DUI in many states including Iowa.
3. THC and especially its metabolites stay in one’s body for a very long time, measured in days and weeks.
The above is why any claim of THC being a “safer” choice than alcohol is extremely misleading and dangerous, even if we ignore potential health risks. Advice otherwise could be putting individuals at risk of job loss and serious legal consequences.
It's illegal to operate when impaired. Alcohol, weed, or other. It doesn’t matter if it’s medical or not it is still considered illegal to operate under its influence.
I can assure you my post you’ve quoted is 100% accurate. If you do not believe me research Iowa law in regards.I don't know that you're wrong, but there is a distinction between "safer" and "more legal" or "less legal"
I'm pretty sure that THC being safer than alcohol is pretty well established.
I'm also pretty sure that THC being less legal than alcohol is pretty well established (at the federal level, and at some state levels, including Iowa, and potentially at some employer levels).
Yes, and in Iowa any detectable amount of THC = impairment. It's illegal to operate when impaired. Alcohol, weed, or other.
This is correct but the officer would have to have a reason to arrest you and submit you to a blood or urine test. There is no car side test like a breathalyzer. For this reason unless you are acting impaired or showing active signs this is incredibly unlikely to happen. Not impossible but incredibly unlikely.Yes, and in Iowa any detectable amount of THC = impairment.
There are tons of NA beers now so find one you like and replace with that.
... decided I would take a month off booze to see if I could reset everything.
Thankfully I wasn't physically addicted, more so kept doing a nightcap out of fear that I wouldn't sleep well at night. Seems like that fear was unfounded because I'm sleeping pretty well the past couple nightsHave you thought about cutting back to 1 per night for a week or so, perhaps as a prelude to your month of temperance?
You may want to give legal thc and cbd gummies a try.

Diarrhea is a side effect from alcohol withdrawal, I wouldn’t have predicted it based on your description of 2 drinks per night but it’s not unusual. Out of curiosity what exactly were the “2 drinks per night”?also @FriendlySpartan think it would be normal to have diarrhea after quitting alcohol after drinking 2 drinks a night for many years? because oh boy it is coming today.
