Funnily enough, mine is a little better today (none of the redirects to the scam ads so far(. Knock on wood that continues.

Still need to dodge the bar at the top which plays a video when trying to reach the forums though.

Thought I was getting throttled it’s been so bad for the last week or so. Site unusable on mobile. Took me about 10 minutes to get here to post this.

NFL Wildcard ad keeps covering my entire window. Is happening about every 30 seconds for 4 or 5 seconds at a time. After it reduces I still have to X out the expanded strip that is covering about a third of the window as well.

First encounter today w/ the Severance ad.

Most of the time, desktop navigation is OK, other than the mini-pop-ups at the bottom, but I've gotten used to routinely X'ing those asap.

Phone is another animal entirely.

The first two paragraphs are my experience exactly. Never saw the full window Severance ad until today and it immediately started taking over like the survival of Apple+ is entirely dependent on me watching the program.

You are very important.

And I haven’t gotten that ad, but while looking at the LA fire thread ESPN thought it was absolutely necessary to show me an ad on both sides of the screen that the Rams and Vikings are playing in the NFL playoffs. It was so important that each time I exited out of the ad it started over again. The ad only stayed away once I exited that thread.

I noticed recently how bad it has gotten on mobile, and now suddenly my adblock on my Chrome browser on my laptop doesn't do anything. At the moment I can count over 5 different ads. I get this is how revenue for the site is made, but there has to be a better way than farming out this overwhelming gar Screenshot 2025-01-09 at 12.00.33 PM.png bage.

It's been SO BAD lately. I keep getting some stomach parasite one that is so gross I can't even look at my screen and it pops up every 10 seconds.

Is there anyone on the CF staff even concerned about this?
No....which is weird because of how much Chris preaches out Podcast Ads/sponsors and how they reach people. Would think they could bring the site ads in house?

It’s hard to feel like there is since it looks like the last staff post in one of these ad threads (not even this one), was early August and I’m not sure when Chris last posted in one of these.

Edit: it looks like maybe the last time Chris responded to a comment about ads/in a thread only about ads was in September 2023? It’s possible I missed one, but I don’t think so

Yeah, malware is bad, but also why would anyone running a website want to make it so hard just to view the effing thing???
