That mattress ad is more than annoying. It's really not cool if you're trying to sneak a peak at CF when you're at work and that thing blasts out. Is there a way to disable the sound on ads?

I hope so. Those videos at the bottom have been very annoying over the past couple of months.
The Serta one has pretty much made me not keep CF open as much as I usually do, but its only been going on for me for about 20 hours. It will not shut up...
That is why the status quo is sound turned entirely off on my work computer. I turn it on when I need to hear something.
I think everyone here realizes that the site needs $ from the advertisements to keep the site free (we've been told countless times). However, there is a line where the amount/magnitude of adds hamper the enjoyment of those viewing the site.
I have to make sure I don't leave CF open on my laptop, those ads make my CPU go from 8-10% -> 50%, so battery life is clobbered. Very annoying.
The thing is, some people (myself included) would be willing to pay a little to not have to deal with all of these bull-**** ads. It is going to drive people away. I understand the need to advertise, but it's getting pretty ridiculous.
I assume you're running Firefox...does it allow you to just block a certain URL? If you block the URL instead of just the box on the screen, that should kill the audio.
FIFY. Although, this way, you have to enable s c r i p t s for pages you want to view that have s c r i p t s , but you don't notice it after a couple weeks and I haven't seen an ad since I installed it.
1. Go here
2. Download and install.
3. Restart Chrome.
4. Reopen thread.
5. Click AdBlock logo just right of address bar.
6. Select Block Ad on this Page.
7. Select the Ad
8. Block digitalsportsventures URL.
