I had returned to the insurance industry about a month before the derecho. Boss called and said, "Stop what you're doing. We're going to need you taking claims calls. We've got a big storm--" and line went dead.
We had a new employee start the day of the derecho. As the number of claims went from under a hundred to up, up, up over 2000, I had to keep telling her this was not normal and to keep her head up. She's still with us, thank goodness.
