4-23-20 Big Board Update: Adding two names for Iowa State

If Prohm is swinging for the fences, fine, but he can’t afford to strike out.

Buggs isn't a program changer, but he's a guy that we shouldn't be turning away at this point in the game.

Maybe they know that there are some other guys that might be available later or maybe they only want to take at most 2 GTs and they have other guys higher on their list.

Ok if ISU hasn't officially offered Buggs than idk what in world this staff is thinking. Here's a kid who knows ISU..parents went to ISU...appears to favor ISU...Is more talented than what left the program..and you have 4 ships open.

What exactly is the staff thinking? I appreciate going after Brown and Coleman but they seem more of a long shot to me.

Buggs, while limited offensively, seems like a solid defender and a very solid ball handler and pass first pg we need in the offense.

Very surprised Buggs doesn't have an offer and will be announcing this weekend with ISU in the top 3.
While I think Buggs should be an take, I won't argue if the staff thinks they are better off with Bolton and Tre would be a better back court next year and don't want to tie up a schooly in a grad transfer that won't start. Prohm may have learned a lesson with taking the Beverly, Brases and even sit out one year Nixon's type. The staff need impact transfers.

Until proven otherwise, this has been a reality bad spring for the staff. Lots of negative recruiting against us for the obvious reasons (this has been verified). The staff is quite honestly striking out on their top targets.

I'd rather he aims high and misses than wastes scholly on guys who won't help us.
Wait, they were taking transfers they thought wouldn’t help us in the past?

We have 4 scholarships- room to have differing risk approaches. Room for a base hit, room to swing for the fences with one or two, and room to get a good sitout.

It’s all in the execution. Aiming high can quickly become shooting low (we didn’t end up with Beverly because we weren’t aiming high enough).

Where’s the cutoff on odds of “helping”? With 4 open, one or even two “maybes” like Buggs or Flower (more than a maybe) would seem wise. With these one year guys, completely missing due to aiming too high on all and then falling back to Beverly types (or moving on to sitouts for all 4) isn’t optimal either.

I would love to know the staffs recruiting plan right now. Buggs isn't a program savior, but he looks to be a decent player at a position of need.

Prohm might be serious about his “Point Forward” if he doesn’t want a true PG.

That, or confident in getting Harris.

I think this sums up their strategy:

I know ISU, my dad went to ISU, 2/4 of my grandparents went to ISU...alas...I was not good enough to play in the Big 8/12. That might have something to do with it.

I’m not saying I know what Buggs level is, but I bet the coaching staff has a good idea and probably a better idea of all the feelers they have out and don’t want a kid committing right away and closing other doors.

I think if they decide they want Harris they can get him right now...Baylor doesnt have serious interest in him its really us and South Alabama

They might as well swing for the fences.

Just picking up a first down when you're down seven with 0:30 left is not enough.

To continue mixing my sports metaphors.

If you take Buggs and Flowers this weekend it could end the options of T. Harris and Jalen Coleman-Lands.
Assuming the staff feels both Harris and Coleman-Lands help them more short and long term (which I agree) and they are confident in their position then they need to wait.
