Sold tickets, not what was actually there.
I agree, its sold tickets. But for the most part we had decent attendance for how bad we were. You really have to think about how bad we have been historically and we sold 90-95% of our capacity most games. And many games more than our away games in places like OkSt etc. Look at KU they have to force their Basketball ticket holders to buy football tickets in order to sell tickets. As far as I know that has never been the case at ISU.

I also have a hard time believing 20K people bought tickets every week and didnt go to the games, to bring us down to 25K in the stands. I can agree 5K or maybe even close to 10k for some games but not 20K. My guess is some games when we listed near 45K fans in the stands we were closer to 40K, somewhere in the Upper 30s, with a few being actually full. Like UNI, Iowa, Nebby.

It also helps that in the old Big 8 days we had a lot more games that were simple day trips for away fans, like the Big 10 west is. KU, KST,MU,NU, fans all were really easy trips for fans to come, and OU and OSU were not bad. Now most of our trips make CU look short/normal. So I think it was easier to sell a lot more tickets to visiting fans in those days.
