*** 2026 PGA Tour Thread ***

If you're going to get upset for a golfer's connection to evil financial institutions, you're pretty much going to have to quit watching professional golf.
This is very true. This is why the outrage over LIV didn't make sense to me.

What is the saying about people who live in glass houses.

They are talking about Blackstone the world's largest alternative investment firm.

Ah. I really didn’t think the investment one even did marketing. Seems like one of those Spectre type organizations that just hides in the shadows trying not to draw attention.

Just glad I’m OK with replacing my blackstone griddle. Cause the Weber and Traeger versions are pricey.

My outrage about LIV was related to splitting the tour. All of the best players should be on the same tour.
Can't say I disagree with this. If you want to be the best you should play against the best.

I do think some of the LIV guys left because they are "independent contractors" but the PGA treated them like they owned them.

Sounds interesting. If I'm reading it correctly, basically the top 90 in the championship tier retain that level and the top 20 of the challenger tier are promoted each year (with the bottom players being relegated to the challenger tier). Seems like it will create some interesting storylines and a more structured and understandable process.

Up until now, it was kind of confusing with players disappearing and reappearing based on the criteria of each tournament and whatever set of exemptions they had earned from various finishes. At least now, it should be easier to know who would be playing in what tournament based on their tier status for the year.

One would assume (if it's in there, I didn't catch it) that a certain amount of people on the challenger tier would be dropped to the Korn Ferry Tour each year, and a similar amount promoted.

So, I’ve wondered this for several months now in looking at the schedule.

Where is the Tour Championship and playoff events?

I know they want to wrap up before NFL but where and when is it?

IMO change is needed to the PGA to create a better product week in week out. But will be curious if the "new" tour model will address.

IMO a big issue for the current PGA Tour is so much emphasis on the 4 majors. Introducing premier tournaments with big purses seemed like a positive a couple years ago. But as a PGA fan, still feel like we don't get enough events with Rory, Scottie, etc. going against each other. When LIV folds, that might help because golfers like Rahm, Bryson are back in the weekly mix (hopefully).

And maybe that's not really the issue, but there are too many tournaments over the 8 month season (aka weekly). Maybe the 2 Tour format addresses this in that the highest level will only play 2 or 3 weekends a month. And the 2nd level tour would fill the gap weeks plus.

I think it really makes alot of sense. I know that sponsors were becoming an issue when they'd pay tons of money just to have all the stars not show up. There's just too many events to expect the main guys to come to all of them. So having two separate tracks where you know what you are getting makes way more sense.
