How many double seeded teams have made the sweet 16 in the women’s tourney?

Just going back through the last two formats...

8 times in this version of the top-4 host setup (2015-19, 2022-25)
*Three 10s, four 11s, and one 12
*Last time was in 2022
*None in the bubble tournament (2021)

11 times in 12 seasons during the predetermined host era (2003-14)
*3 times as the host team (11, 11, 11)
*3 times at a neutral site (12, 13, 13)
*5 times with the host team in the pod:
2013: Kansas (12) -- 5 seed was host
2012: Kansas (11) -- 14 seed was host
2010: San Diego State (11) -- 6 seed was host
2007: Florida State (10) -- 2 seed was host
2003: Notre Dame (11) -- 3 seed was host

As of the 2022 tournament, at least 27 teams with double-digit seeds (No. 10 or higher) have advanced to the NCAA Women’s Tournament Sweet 16, with 25 of those occurring after the field expanded to 64 teams in 1994

How can that building not have AC, did it not just go thru a renovation in the past few years?

I was wondering why they were making a deal about temperature. I was like there's no way the building doesn't have AC. Leave it to Iowa to forget.

Iowa has struggled today because the Big 10 is a meat grinder and it has worn them down, not to mention the unbearable heat in Carver.

4th quarter in Iowa City...
Fouls: FDU 15, Iowa 1
FT: FDU 0-0, Iowa 15-23

Final game margin: 10 points

Whooeee, what a game FDU played their hearts out. I loved Lisa Bluder, but she’d have lost that game today. That’s assuming she would’ve put an offense on the floor that was that heinous I mean 1-13 from three is gonna lose lots of games for you.

But defense, defense, defense, defense will keep you in the game, no matter how bad you’re playing offensively. But Fairleigh Dickinson gets plenty of credit there, they played their asses off.

With that said, Iowa smothered them defensively. I’m honestly shocked at the composure of both of those teams. FDU kept coming back and Iowa never caved, pretty remarkable really, quite a game if you’re just a fan of basketball.

And I’m glad 55-year-old Chad got to watch it and not 40 year-old, because that guy would’ve been throwing a fit lol

I don’t know about that… I think that’s unfair to FDU. Yes the Big Ten is a meat grinder, and yes, based on the first round games it appears it wasn’t propaganda. The Big Ten has looked pretty kick ass, both of men and women.

In fact, you could say Iowa had looked the worst in the 1st round. However, as a longtime fan, I am absolutely giddy that they kept their composure and just kept hammering defensively!!!

I’ve seen some of my favorite teams cave in that kind of scenario before. As I said earlier, I was moving around the house, doing projects putting a bed together, etc., etc. with earbuds in listening to music, but it doesn’t appear to me they ever seemed like they were actually rattled.
