***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I’ll go to my grave thinking we would’ve beaten Detroit with a healthy Hockenson.
Having a healthy Cashman is even more important. Flo’s defense needs his coverage ability for routes over the middle and down the seams. The only 2 loses were when he was missing.

Big big game. The difference between playing at home with a bye week and being on the road.

Vikings got lucky in this game. Needed to force Packers to use TOs when up by 9. Threw incompletions and near pick 6’s. Really risky. Vikings have a great O line. Best set of receivers in the league. Hockenson is a stud. RBs very good. Darnold has been playing really well. Although he made some bad decisions. They will likely make a deal. IMO.

That has seemed to be an issue for KOC. Clock management has been baffling on more than one occasion in the last 3 years
KOC has a very frequent problem with not running the ball when he really should. On top of that, in those situations he also likes to set up long, low-percentage pass plays instead of quick hitters, screens, etc. -- things that are easily completed and keep the clock ticking.

KOC isn't good at clock management at the end of halves and games. One of his weaknesses over the years has been on 3rd and medium/short if he knows he's going to go for it on 4th he likes to go for low percentage deep shots on 3rd, rather than take two high probability plays to convert the first.

That game was a masterclass by KOC and Darnold for about 2.5 quarters, and kind of a cluster the rest of the way. Some opportunities to just wave the white flag on 3rd and long and chew up some clock instead they opted to go for a low percentage pass play that was lucky to not be a TO and stopped the clock.

But KOC is a great coach. Great offensive mind and CEO. I do worry that he and Darnold can be a bit of a bad decision-making combo at times and taking risks in low probability situations.

14-2

We can nitpick some things the team needs to improve. Yet they are 14-2

Just let it sink in and enjoy the rest of the season. This season is far better than anyone expected, including Paul Allen
Sam Darnold won 14 games and is staring at a 15th. Feels like that's practically doubling his career win total. He has 4,200 yards and 35 TDs. He just posted a career high in passing yards against a rival in a massive game.

KOC is a QB God and easy CotY choice.

He has more wins as a Viking in one season as he did in 3 with the Jets (14 to 13). Prior to this season he had 21 total wins as a starter.

It's going to come down KOC, McVay, and Dan Quinn. If the Vikes win next week, that should tip it to KOC.

Harbaugh is a dark horse as well. Vegas says KOC is already the clear front runner

It’s wild to think that not that long ago us Vikings fans were debating whether it’s worth to resign Kirk Couns and preparing for a rebuild. Fast forward and journeyman Sam Darnold is having a career year for most QBs, and Kirk Cousins is well paid and now benched.
The new regime has made a ton of very savvy roster management moves. They've had some draft blunders for sure, but the other pieces have been largely excellent.

I'll give Cousins credit. That guy has made a lot more money than he should have over his career.

Harbaugh really has no business being in the discussion. They were 10-7 two years ago. They sucked last year because they were wrecked by injuries, and he looks a lot better following Staley, who made more stupid decision than any coach in recent history.

Harbaugh is a great coach and has done a good job. But getting that roster to 10-7 or even 11-6 is not some amazing feat.

And the blunders were largely in the first draft, just a couple months after Kwesi and KOC were hired. That draft was the first impression given to fans, and some of that negativity is still present in some fans today. The NFL is all about what have you done for me lately, not what have you done for me 3 years ago. Kwesi and KOC contracts should be extended and they should be paid their worth. They have done an amazing job outside of the first draft when they were just getting their feet wet
