MLB: ***2026 Minnesota Twins***

I don't see a starting pitcher in the cards
Totally agree, but I'd wager money that ownership expected the division to be down and they could skate by. Imagine what the team could have looked like had they actually built on last year's season rather than cut back. Imagine what having Sonny Gray in the rotation would have done for this team. Or a veteran lefty bat. Being "competitive" rather than trying to win in the post season is partially why they are fighting for a wild card spot.
Twins were never acquiring a veteran lefty bat, if anything going into the season they looked too lefty heavy. Julien and Wallner played well enough last year you're not going to pay a guy millions of dollars to push them out. Unfortunately both have struggled enough to get demoted and Kepler also hasn't been great

They’re literally ruining their product. I’m cursed with the Twins obsession via genetics but the next generation is not going to give two sh*ts. They’ve never seen them play.
same here.

With regards to the trade deadline, I could be okay with the Twins making some moves.

One thing to watch out for with trading prospects is the Rule 5. If the Twins have a guy who is eligible for the rule 5 draft, but likely won't get 40 man roster spot, trading them away really isn't a big deal.

There are some lower rated, yet intriguing prospects that this might apply to. Aaron Sabato is having a great year at AA, but he's limited defensively, so if another team wanted him as a piece to a trade, I'd have no problem. The absolute worst downside to that is that he turns into Brent Rooker, but they could lose him anyway in the Rule 5 draft, so who cares.

Yunior Severino is another one that could be expendable. Currently on the 40 man, but could be traded to clear up space. He's got some position flexibility, but has only played 1B and 3B this year. He's not taking Royce's spot and if Miranda is for real, he might have 1B locked down in the future.

Kiersey is another one. I like him and think he could contribute, but he's also replaceable.

There is a bit of a corner outfield glut as well. Kiriloff, Larnach, Wallner are already major leagues. You've got Austin Martin who can fill that roll, Kiersey as well. Emmanuel Rodriguez is on the 40 man and if injuries arose, it wouldn't be crazy to see him get called up. Then you've got prospects like Gabriel Gonzalez, Brandon Winokur, Kala'i Rosario, Yasser Mercedes coming down the pipeline. You could definitely afford to trade one of two out of that group (either prospects or established players) and not be handcuffing yourselves.

Ruining seems extreme. They aren't the A's.

The payroll changes don't bother me as much as the TV. Lack of TV is hurting ALL of baseball, not just the Twins. Their blackout policy is awful.

Regarding the payroll, I wish they'd want to spend more money, but unfortunately thats just not what the Pohlads want to do. However, the "cutting payroll" complaints this year are kind of dumb. They did show last year that they were willing to increase payroll in certain circumstances, but what if they hadn't done that? If they had just stuck with the status quo, no one would have been complaining about a payroll cut this year (just the lack of an increase).

You need to do some more research on the twins baseball deal. They had an out and didn’t take it and didn’t turn around and invest the money they got into the team. You don’t have your best season in decades and then slash payroll to build a product. That’s asinine logic.

No thank you. I’d rather not give away prospects.

I'm dragging my kids down with me. Going to see the Phils at Target field later this month.

Well, my oldest - she couldn't care less, though she likes going to games.

My son is 16 and is a baseball fanatic. He is sucked in and it's too late. But since he's also like most kids that play, he is also equally as into stars of the game. Really hoping Harper and Schwarber are back by then.

I refuse to buy my son Harper cleats. He’s a Buxton diehard, doesn’t understand the hate he gets (although I largely don’t either but he doesn’t get it yet). Hopefully Royce can capture another generation of young Twins fan in a similar way.

Good examples (especially Severino) of possible trade prospects, but who could the Twins realistically get that would really make a difference in the second half? They would have to bundle several to get any quality back, IMO.

I know that anything can happen in the playoffs..... but this version of the Twins is not real serious World Series contenders. I would not trade anyone decent away for immediate help now.

If they wanted a big return, then you would have to go bigger. You're not going to get a SP who is going to be in your Top 3 without some bigger names. You might be able to get a flyer on someone who could be your 5th starter, or a descent (not elite reliever), though.

I think no matter what, Walker Jenkins, Brooks Lee and David Festa are untouchable.

I think Emmanuel Rodriguez is virtually untouchable. The type of player I would use E-Rod for won't be available.

However, I think anyone else should be available for the right piece. I am not sure who they could get from a high end, but they could grab a RP flyer or a good right handed hitter for not a ton.

Lets take a healthy Jesus Lazardo. If he weren't hurt, would you offer up Matt Wallner, Luke Keaschall and C.J. Culpepper? How about Wallner, Marco Raya and Kala'i Rosario? I'd think about it.

Miguel Andujar is a realistic target who is having a fantastic year against LHP that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Probably wouldn't need to include a Top 10 prospect.

Several available relievers would be potential upgrades over some of the guys being sent out now, although I really hope they don't overpay.

They are a weird feeling team, but they also apparently lead the league in runs scored and are on a 101-equivalent win pace since their 7-13 start, so who knows.

Hard to get a great read on them.

Honestly, I'm not sure I care how many games they win. We've already seen a glimpse into their inability to beat true contenders and looking at the starting pitching staff, I wouldn't be confident in a 7 game series.
