MLB: ***2026 Minnesota Twins***

Carlos Correa hit by pitch and he headed straight to the clubhouse. Radio call said he was shaking his head no like he knew immediately something wasn't right.
I'm guessing the Twins are leading the league in getting hit by pitches.

Bout time we start arguing about trade deals, eh?

I don’t trust the FO and would prefer they did nothing.

I'm sure ownership is stunned to find out that cutting payroll did not indeed result in running away from a predicted dismal division.

The Twins are not in the lead because of their record as it’s actually better than what it was last year at this point in the season. Nobody expected Cleveland to be one of the best teams in MLB.

I think they’re more stunned that the revenue they thought they have in attendance is down. So Weird that cutting payroll and a BS tv deal negatively impacts fan engagement.

Cleveland's record isn't sustainable. That OPS with runners in scoring position is anomalous. Kwan and Fry are going to have their OPS's drop by 150-200 points. Jimenez's will probably go up by about 50-100 to partially offset it but not nearly fully offset it. There is so little hitting depth it's scary.

The bullpen will get some tired arms and will have some hiccups.

The Twins are in pretty good shape after a weird start (so many massive slumps). If Cleveland does get two of these things - shortstop/outfielder/DH that can hit - that would certainly change the equation.

I'll admit that I'm no expert and these are the talking points that are discussed by media members but they do make sense.

And with the Timberwolves having such a fun year with a big payroll, it really makes the Twins look even cheaper than normal.

Totally agree, but I'd wager money that ownership expected the division to be down and they could skate by. Imagine what the team could have looked like had they actually built on last year's season rather than cut back. Imagine what having Sonny Gray in the rotation would have done for this team. Or a veteran lefty bat. Being "competitive" rather than trying to win in the post season is partially why they are fighting for a wild card spot.

Twins management: "Well, we had a great year last year and actually advanced in the playoffs for the first time in decades." "We are headed in the right direction."

Pohlad Family: "We sure did, congrats guys... very proud of you." "Time to cut payroll."

Twins Management: "Consider it done. The casual fans won't notice, and our games wont be on most tv's anyway!"

They’re literally ruining their product. I’m cursed with the Twins obsession via genetics but the next generation is not going to give two sh*ts. They’ve never seen them play.
