I don't see a starting pitcher in the cards
Twins were never acquiring a veteran lefty bat, if anything going into the season they looked too lefty heavy. Julien and Wallner played well enough last year you're not going to pay a guy millions of dollars to push them out. Unfortunately both have struggled enough to get demoted and Kepler also hasn't been greatTotally agree, but I'd wager money that ownership expected the division to be down and they could skate by. Imagine what the team could have looked like had they actually built on last year's season rather than cut back. Imagine what having Sonny Gray in the rotation would have done for this team. Or a veteran lefty bat. Being "competitive" rather than trying to win in the post season is partially why they are fighting for a wild card spot.
