It's interesting that we are all lamenting not getting a big time guy, yet I've seen us in most preseason Top 10s that are out. There is so much value in retaining your core. There are tons of examples of these teams that are patchworked together with transfers not finding their collective stride.
Agree. We didn’t go get a big time guy cuz we already had a big time guy. Maybe two. Maybe three. As many have said this might be a year we need a freshman or two to step up and provide valuable minutes. TJ has enough of a reputation already that we will for certain be top 15

He would've gotten more than that on the open market easily.
Eh, sometimes I feel we overvalue our own guys because it's the team we follow so closely. Nate the last 2.5 weeks, yes a quality piece. I doubt anyone can argue most of the season he was not looking like a power 4 player. Finished the year avg 5pts a game even with a strong finish. Hopefully he has confidence all season next year

If Nojus went and got 1 million from Pitt.... then what's Nate Heise worth?
Has that been confirmed? I know there has been crazy money thrown around but that seems hard to believe. It would have to be from his high school ranking because he didn't show enough last year to be worth a million dollars. But what do I know? Dishon Jackson getting over a million as reported seems insane also.

Nojus has 4 years left. Higher ceiling. My bad, 3 years. He can't redshirt. But still....
People saying how many years of eligibility a player has left is my new pet peeve. 4 years left? Who cares, Its all irrelevant. Until the rules change, everyone is a one year rental. If a program is smart they are paying for what they can have on a year to year basis, not a player's potential. Its why freshman receive a fraction of experienced vets, and why the Nojus number makes no sense at all.

Exactly. I don't care anymore how many years a guy has left. It's one year every year and then they hit free agency.

With that mindset (which I agree), then this year's transfer class is better than last year's: 2025 Jefferson, 2025 Heise, Buchanan, Williams, and Mulder is better than 2024 Jefferson (coming off injury), 2024 Heise, Jackson, and Chatfield.

I agree. It's just that the guys we lost are more valuable than the year before.

Yup and bc the nature of the portal, NIL and CBB in general has changed so much, we may as well consider guys like Lipsey, JJ, Milan and Heise being retained the same as we would view a player we signed from another school. Everyone is a 1 year rental now, you can't count on the players from the previous year anymore. JJ got a 7 figure offer despite never being in the portal, everyone is in play now.
