I would assume we are not done adding. Just done adding players that might be down the bench guys that will pay like 1500 a month to come play on the team. Some kid from Illinois Chicago that wants a chance to play on a top tenish team and can add to our practice team and maybe get in the game and provide some minutes in a foul trouble/ Injury time. Kind of a Cade type.
Find me another Heise and I'll be thrilled. There have to be talented kids out there who just want to win and play in March Madness and enjoy the team culture.

Well I assume we had to spend most on JJ
Agree, but I would suspect while JJ got a nice double bump in the end, it also took more money to keep Lipsey and Momcilovic in the fold vs. last season. Even if they weren't aggressively testing the open market, I would think the staff understood the market and made them feel wanted.

It's a pretty crazy NIL world. I saw where Tennessee's starting QB stopped attending spring practices and is holding out for $4M annually vs. the $2M annual long-term deal he agreed to coming out of HS.

Could be. Always hear how so many kids enter the portal, but don't find a new home or have to move down a level. Would think when the smoke clears (school year ends) there might be solid G5 kids who might be willing to bump up to an ISU for scholarship and maybe a few NIL bucks.

The difference between being done and adding “kind of a Cade type” is largely semantics

Hopefully we can find and tamper with some midmajor or low major starter that doesn’t have an offer we have to beat.

I'm being facetious, but we should just build an expensive 7 man roster every year then. I imagine you'll every so often get further in the tournament than paying for 12-13 players. Now that's a bold move

I think this crazy market is handcuffing us this year more than anything, making this year into what I hope is an anomaly. At some point guidelines or limits will be put in place and/or schools will get tired of paying $2 million for a guy that averages 6 points. If not, this is the new normal and we're going to have raise a heck of a lot more money. I'm hoping it's the former.

I am not shocked by this- I was just trying to figure which team in the SEC the player would play for. Turns out the Vols win the prize

Hard to run practices with an 11 man+ Kelderman roster. Injuries are there now and guys will.be out, preseason and in-season.
It has been mentioned that with the increase in pay "nil" for some of the current roster, we may just not sign anymore. I think that could be dangerous.
You have to get over this "and Kelderman" stuff. Cade is a member of this team. On scholarship or not, he played over four scholarship athletes during the B12 and NCAA tournaments.

Sorry Mrs Kelderman. I meant scholarship players. Yes I watched the games. He played in a few. Thankful for his service but if he is playing in games because he's better than guys we've signed TJ is in trouble.
The comment was about not having enough guys. I listed Kade. I'm not sure what the issue is. Yikes

Especially after losing Gilbert, Jones and Jackson. Those guys couldn't have been exactly cheap
I have no clue how much those guys got paid.

It feels like a lot of programs are moving forward and building better rosters, while we are going backwards because we can't afford big 12 caliber players

We wanted Buchanan, Mulder and Williams. We did not settle for any of these three players.

TJ’s hit rate on transfers is pretty damn high so I’m going to trust him on the evaluation of these guys.

TJ gets really good play out of his guards as long as they are healthy, so I'm not worried about Williams. And I think one or both of the freshmen guards will have a great year.

I'm worried about the bigs. Jefferson is a solid PF, but we didn't get much from our centers this year and I'm afraid that may be the case in the coming season as well.

Well to be fair TJ has never really asked his bigs to do much as far as offense goes. Get offensive rebounds and be in the right position to hopefully score when you do get the ball from a guard. I think Bucky will do just that. Mulder did that very well but at a lower level so we’ll have to see.

Both of those guys though defensively are going to be better with how we want to run things. Jackson and Chat were very slow footed.

If the bigs struggle, then I think TJ goes small. It probably helps from a defense standpoint going with: Lipsey, Williams, Heise, Momcilovic & Jefferson.

edit: In looking at my post. I need to qualify my statement about defense. It would be fine from an on-ball defense against guards/wings. But probably not a great post defensive tandem, especially against long & athletic teams.

Ok but they can’t complain when we don’t get new transfers in when JJ depleted the fund.
