2025 Transfer Options

Will definitely need Bateman and/or Toure to step up and be able to play meaningful minutes and score for us to be towards the top of the league. TJ is due to hit on another freshman or two that can play right away.
After watching highlights of our signee’s, I feel ALOT less desperate for us to get a big named player. These guys coming in look legit. Let’s hope it translates to division 1 ball

He shot 7+ FT's per game so that tells me he gets to the basket. That will definitely create space for jump shooters.
You have it backwards. The idea is to create space in the lane for driving, and to allow the bigs to do their work in the post. Without reliable shooters, defenses can pack it in (which has been the scouting report on ISU outside of last year). And that's when we see the offense get stagnant.

That is exactly what he appears to be. Nelson would be a fun slasher who can get to the cup but there would be some fit issues starting next to Tamin. Bateman or Williams would need to be a dead eye shooter day 1 to keep the spacing on Off and defenses honest.

The driving may also be what contributes to his high TO rate. Averages more turnovers than assists.

Getting to the FT line like that is a big weapon though. Granted it'll the athleticism jump to the Big 12 would likely lower those numbers a bit as you would assume guys would be able to stay in front of him better. Would also like to see that % jump up to around 75%+. Below 70% with that kind of volume is a lot of pts left out there.

Not sure what other realistic options are left out there in the portal for a ready-made scorer though. Beggars can't be choosers at this point. The longer the portal goes the higher the prices will get as the amount of quality of players will thin out pretty quickly. Which is why TJ tried to do his work early.

The number of players in the portal is insane, but the number that are ready to play heavy minutes in the big 12 is pretty small. The number of players we can afford is even smaller.

By my quick count from On3, 36 out of the top 100 are unsigned right now and there are a lot more uncommitted as you get from 100-150. I think we can get one.

I don't doubt they will sign a player to fill that roster spot. The question is can we afford one that is ready to make a big impact on a roster trying to finish in the top 5 of the big 12?

As was mentioned yesterday - Robert Wright III from Baylor did enter the portal and committed to BYU immediately
Crazy BYU poaching from Baylor because I would assume Baylor could have matched an offer from BYU if they thought the player was worth it. My guess BYU over paid for him.
