You can’t spend money you don’t have. They need a culture more than they need NIL.Iowa will get stupid with NIL this spring as soon as they sign a new coach and will try to make a big splash, just watch.

Yeah….. I don’t see where or how they’re going to get a bigger budget to work withYou can’t spend money you don’t have. They need a culture more than they need NIL.
We have had some connections, and have gotten some great players like CJ and JJ, but TJ has also played some players that were not the total package. That first year it felt we were always throwing bricks when what we needed was a basket.
I was skeptical of the TJ hire as well, but trust his judgment on player evaluation unequivocally now. The proof is in the pudding. We will always need to get him more resources, but if we can do that, the sky is the limit. No coach gets it 100% right. The reality is if a coach is right 50% of the time, he's going to take teams to the NCAA Tournament.
I had my doubts about TJ when he was hired based on watching UNLV games. But he and his staff has proven that they get their recruiting better every year. And they identify year-to-year what will make next year's team better and compete for Big12 titles. They know the strengths of Houston, Arizona, TT, BYU and will bring in guys that can compete with their guys.
thanks for the correction, I wasn't aware of that. But still, I think the amount of money to pay for good players is going to be higher in 2025 than even 2024. Hopefully our warchest is bigger than last year too.Ummm. Virginia, Michigan, tcu all wanted Jefferson. Florida wanted Osun but we could sell a boatload of playing time as well as playing with his teammate Jaren. Ward I'd say was under the radar and really developed here.
Didn’t mean to infer TJ was missing on players. I felt he has done the best he can with what he has had to work with.No coach gets it 100% right. The reality is if a coach is right 50% of the time, he's going to take teams to the NCAA Tournament.

I was hoping we could maybe get Dedan Thomas but haven't seen us mentioned yet in his schools.I think PG is a huge priority. And Moore decommiting is probably a sign of that. Tamin has yet to make it through a season healthy and no one is going to change the way he plays. We need to prepare like he’s going to be out multiple games next year. And if we get someone in the portal that is good enough to start over Heise at the 2 and move over to PG when Tamin sits, all the better. But at the very least we need a solid ball handler and defender.
we’re poor! Poverty! Hear this all the time but seems like we always get guys. So maybe we aren’t as poor as everyone wants to be? We just happen to be the luckiest power conference school and we’re always getting these top guys for cheap for some reason or another? I don’t buy it.
Oh, TJ has missed on players. But he gets enough right and does a great job of roster building. The roster building component is huge. I felt McDermott and Prohm did a decent job of recruiting during their tenures at Iowa State, but did a terrible job of roster building.Didn’t mean to infer TJ was missing on players. I felt he has done the best he can with what he has had to work with.
Somewhere today I read we will is within 15,000 of their march madness goal and If I remember right that unnlocks a big chunk of matching money. @brentblum am I correct?thanks for the correction, I wasn't aware of that. That is what I have heard as well.Enough to disagree with “this might be the best group of shooters to come in together in a class ever”
That is what I have heard as well.
I am basing my opinion on what I have heard on the various CF Podcasts and the overall recruit ranking. I am not a high school recruit guru.I like the group. And that’s with only one being a plus shooter.
If it ends up being one of the best ever classes in terms of shooting, it’s a bonus
I don’t think we’ll be listed with too many guys.
Funny enough, I was trying to find more Toure film and stumbled upon this.I like the group. And that’s with only one being a plus shooter.

That's why Hadley ended up at Louisville. Our reason for success is that TJ does lay out the expectations for players/transfers. It isn't for everyone and best to put your cards on the table to all potential freshman/transfers. If your goal is solely to get paid, this clearly is not a match.
